"Your Friends & Neighbors" Trailer: Jon Hamm Plays a Hedge Fund Manager Turned Thief in Apple's New Dark Comedy Series From 'Banshee' Co-Creator Jonathan Tropper
Mad Men star Jon Hamm returns to TV as a disgraced hedge fund manager-turned-thief in this darkly comic Apple TV+ crime series.
After completing his incredible seven-season run as the now-iconic adman Don Draper on the Emmy-winning series Mad Men a decade ago, Jon Hamm has since spent most of his time making guest appearances and taking on recurring roles across television. Rather than committing to another full-time lead, he’s popped up in various acclaimed projects—most notably Fargo, Good Omens, The Morning Show, and most recently, Landman.
But now, it looks like Hamm is finally ready to take center stage again. He’s returning to television next month—this time as an unlikely thief with a sneaky plan to break into the homes of some of the country’s wealthiest elites. But don’t call him Robin Hood—because he’s not stealing out of injustice or to give back to the poor. He’s stealing from the rich purely to line his own pockets.
In Your Friends & Neighbors, a new darkly comic crime series from Banshee and Warrior creator Jonathan Tropper, Hamm stars as Andrew “Coop” Cooper, a hedge fund manager who… well, let’s just say, has some very interesting side hustles.
After being fired in disgrace from his high-paying job and still reeling from a messy divorce, Coop finds himself at the end of his rope. As he struggles to keep up the facade of success, he realizes he may have hit rock bottom. But instead of reflecting on his shameless and greedy ways, Coop hatches a plan that just might dig him out of the hole he’s in.
His scheme?
Breaking into the homes of the filthy rich—the very people he calls his friends and neighbors—and stealing the priceless items he knows they’ll never miss. After all, these people have so much money, they don’t even know what’s hanging on their walls or locked away in their bedroom dressers.
It’s the perfect crime—as long as he can get away with it.
Your Friends & Neighbors also boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabel Gravitt, and Donovan Colan, with a guest appearance by Corbin Bernsen.
Filmmaker and television director Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Pam & Tommy, Physical) helmed the first two episodes.
Gillespie previously worked with Hamm on the 2014 underdog baseball dramedy Million Dollar Arm, which was one of Hamm’s first major film roles after his Emmy-winning turn on Mad Men.
Jonathan Tropper serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Hamm, Gillespie, and Connie Tavel (Judging Amy).
Your Friends & Neighbors is set to premiere on Apple TV+ starting April 11th.
Here’s the show’s official synopsis:
After being fired in disgrace, Andrew “Coop” Cooper (Jon Hamm), a hedge fund manager still grappling with his recent divorce, resorts to stealing from the homes of his neighbors in the exceedingly affluent Westmont Village, only to discover that the secrets and affairs hidden behind those wealthy facades might be more dangerous than he ever imagined.
