Christopher Abbott Becomes the Monster His Family Fears in Trailer for New Blumhouse Horror "Wolf Man" with Julia Garner
In this new Blumhouse-produced horror thriller from the director of "The Invisible Man," Christopher Abbott plays a family man who must protect his wife and young daughter from a dangerous threat. The twist? He's the threat they need protection from. Check out the official full-length trailer for "Wolf Man," a modern take on the classic Universal monster movie.
In this forthcoming horror film, Abbott, who recently co-starred in "Poor Things" and will appear in the upcoming comic book movie "Kraven the Hunter," plays a San Francisco family man named Blake. When Blake takes his wife and young daughter on a trip to a newly inherited family farmhouse in rural Oregon, they are unexpectedly attacked by an unseen creature at night. After sustaining a serious wound during the savage assault, Blake begins to slowly transform into a feral beast, a terrifying monster that puts his wife and daughter in grave danger.
Emmy Award winner Julia Garner, known for her role as Ruth Langmore in the acclaimed Netflix crime series "Ozark" and recently seen in the "Rosemary's Baby" horror prequel "Apartment 7A," also stars in the film as Blake's wife, Charlotte. She finds herself in a harrowing position where she must protect her child from the man she loves following his transformation, which they cannot fully comprehend.
"Wolf Man" is directed by Leigh Whannell, co-creator of the "Saw" and "Insidious" film franchises. He also wrote and directed the 2020 horror hit "The Invisible Man," starring Elisabeth Moss. He is also recognized for his work on the cult 2018 sci-fi action thriller "Upgrade." With "Wolf Man," Whannell reinterprets a classic Universal Monster Horror property, adding a modern twist to the tale of an ordinary man who turns into a werewolf. Whannell co-writes the film alongside Corbett Tuck, with contributions from Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo ("Dumb Money").
"Wolf Man" arrives in theaters on January 17, 2025. Watch the full trailer above.
