Jharrel Jerome Portrays One-Legged College Wrestler Anthony Robles in Trailer for Amazon's Underdog Sports Drama "Unstoppable" with Jennifer Lopez, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, and Don Cheadle
If you're a fan of underdog sports movies that highlight the power of hard work and perseverance, "Unstoppable" might be just what you need. Check out the official trailer for this new Amazon Prime original film inspired by the incredible true story of Anthony Robles, a college wrestler who, despite being born with only one leg and refusing to wear a prosthetic limb, fought to compete in the 2011 NCAA individual wrestling national championship.
Featuring a lead performance from Emmy Award winner Jharrel Jerome, known for Netflix's "When They See Us," as Anthony Robles, the sports drama is directed by Oscar-winning film editor William Goldenberg in his feature directorial debut. Goldenberg is best known for his award-winning editing work on films like "Argo," "Zero Dark Thirty," and "The Imitation Game."
Based on the memoir "Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion" by Anthony Robles and Austin Murphy, the film also stars Jennifer Lopez as Judy Robles, Anthony's mother. The cast includes Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, Don Cheadle, and Shawn Hatosy.
Produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon under their new production label, Artists Equity, which is behind acclaimed films like "Air" and the soon-to-be-released Irish drama "Small Things like These," "Unstoppable" had its world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, earning strong reviews from critics.
The film will have a limited theatrical release on December 6th before arriving exclusively on Prime Video on January 16, 2025. Watch the trailer above.
