⇩ NEW MOVIE TRAILERS:
The only thing more terrifying than the undead? The passage of time.!
28 Years Later — New Trailer
(in theaters June 20th)
Director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland are reuniting to push the 28 Days Later franchise into even darker territory. In 28 Years Later, survivors have become ruthless, living in isolated, bow-and-arrow-wielding communities, protecting themselves from the undead and each other. With a cast led by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jodie Comer, the film explores the long-term effects of fear and division in a post-apocalyptic world.
Shot with a mix of iPhone 15 Pro Max and drones to give it that gritty, raw aesthetic from the original film, 28 Years Later is shaping up to be a cinematic gut punch. Fans of the original film will be glad to know that Cillian Murphy is still involved as an executive producer, though there’s rumors his character will return, either in this one or the other two preplanned sequels.
This one promises to bring back the dread, the urgency, and the soul-shaking fear we remember. 28 Years Later hits theaters June 20th. Get ready for a summer that’s far from the usual. It’s going to be a dead one.
Marvel’s got “fantastic” plans for this summer!
The Fantastic Four: First Steps — Trailer
(in theaters July 25th)
Marvel has a lot riding on The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and this time, they might just have the hit they need. Amid a crowded summer of blockbuster contenders, Marvel is betting on the power of family in this fresh take on their first family of superheroes. With a retro, space-age vibe and an alternate universe setting, this film feels like a new direction for the MCU, far removed from its current repetitive phase.
Pedro Pascal leads the cast as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing). Together, they’re introduced to the world as the first superhero team, facing the challenge of balancing fame with their true purpose.
Enter Galactus, the cosmic devourer, who poses the ultimate test for the team. But it’s not just about muscle; this fight will require sacrifice and strategy, and the power of a united family. With director Matt Shakman (WandaVision, Game of Thrones) behind the camera and Julia Garner as a female Silver Surfer, The Fantastic Four: First Steps promises to deliver something different and fresh.
Mark your calendars! The Fantastic Four: First Steps will arrive in theaters everywhere on July 25, and Marvel’s first family is ready to stretch their limits.
Sometimes it takes the “Master of Horror” to remind you that life’s most haunting moments are the beautiful ones.
The Life of Chuck — Trailer
(in theaters June 6th, Expands June 13th)
Feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders? Maybe it's time for a little life-affirming dose of perspective. Enter The Life of Chuck, where horror author Stephen King and horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan have teamed up to bring a poignant, reflective story about life's fleeting beauty—no supernatural horrors this time, just real heartfelt emotion.
Tom Hiddleston stars as Charles “Chuck” Krantz, an ordinary businessman with a quirky habit of dancing through life. Told in three acts and reverse chronological order, the film dives into Chuck’s journey, exploring his relationships, loves, and existential musings. With a stellar cast including Jacob Tremblay, Annalise Basso, Karen Gillan, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, with Mark Hamill and Mia Sara as Chuck’s Jewish grandparents, this adaptation of King’s short story promises to move you to tears, rather than scaring you to tears.
In a world where everything seems to be falling apart, this film is a reminder to slow down, savor the small moments, and dance a little. The Life of Chuck premiered at TIFF to positive reviews and is now ready to hit theaters on June 6th, before expanding nationwide on June 13th. Get ready for an emotional ride that might just make you see life through a different lens.
Ari Aster takes on the pandemic the only way he knows how—by turning fear and anxiety into pure agonizing discomfort.
Eddington — Teaser Trailer
(in theaters July 18th)
Is Ari Aster a horror filmmaker? Well, he’s certainly built a name for himself with Hereditary and Midsommar, two of the most unsettling films of recent years. But in his latest, Eddington, he’s moving into more existential territory, tackling the COVID pandemic’s grip on society with his trademark discomfort and dark satire.
Set in May 2020, during the early days of the lockdown, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix as Sheriff Joe Cross, a man juggling rising public outrage, unsolved murders, and an increasingly tense political situation in his small town of Eddington, Texas. Pedro Pascal plays the opportunistic Eddington mayor using the pandemic as a political football, while Austin Butler co-stars as a fiery religious leader stirring up resistance. Emma Stone rounds out the cast as the sheriff’s wife, caught between loyalty and doubt.
Eddington delves into the fear, anxiety, and political turmoil that defined the pandemic era, all under Aster’s sharp eye for the unsettling. With a heatwave pushing tempers to the boiling point, the film’s satirical tone and exploration of conspiracy culture promise to deliver the same uneasy feeling we’ve come to expect from Aster. Though it might not be pure horror, it’s definitely more than a little terrifying.
Premiering at Cannes next month and hitting theaters on July 18, Eddington promises to challenge audiences once again.
Get ready for a love story… in reverse!
The Roses — Trailer
(in theaters August 9th)
Love may be easy to fall into, but falling out of it? That’s where the real drama lies. The Roses gives us a brutally funny look at the messy, awkward process of a couple calling it quits. Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch star as Theo and Ivy Rose, a successful couple who discover that ending a marriage is less about splitting the assets and more about surviving the emotional fallout. Get ready for sharp banter, sarcastic one-liners, and a divorce battle that’s as funny as it is cringeworthy.
Directed by Jay Roach (Meet the Fockers) and written by Tony McNamara (Poor Things, The Favourite), this updated take on 1989’s The War of the Roses is a dark comedy throwback where we can laugh at the dark side of love. Colman and Cumberbatch’s chemistry seems magnetic, making their fiery exchanges something you’ll likely want to watch over and over. With Andy Samberg and Allison Janney rounding out the stellar cast, The Roses aims to be a hilarious, messy look at the end of love.
Coming to theaters August 29th, The Roses promises to be the most entertaining breakup of the year.
The field of dreams just turned into a nightmare of pressure!
HIM — Teaser Trailer
(In theaters September 19th)
From comedy to horror, Jordan Peele has carved out a unique space for himself in Hollywood. Now, through his production company Monkeypaw Productions, Peele is backing HIM, a psychological horror film with a sports twist. Directed by Justin Tipping (Kicks), this film takes the pursuit of greatness to terrifying new heights.
Tyriq Withers plays a rising football star invited to a top-tier training facility, where he’ll be mentored by veteran player Marlon Wayans. What seems like a dream opportunity quickly spirals into a nightmare as the pressure to succeed pushes the young quarterback beyond his limits.
The film blends intense sports drama with eerie horror, diving into the consequences of pushing oneself too far for fame and success. With a screenplay that made the 2022 Black List and an eclectic cast including Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, and MMA fighter Maurice Greene, HIM promises an unsettling ride.
HIM hits theaters on September 19th. From sports glory to a Lynchian fever dream, this film will leave you questioning how far you’d go for success.
When corporate America makes you sick, who you gonna call?
The Toxic Avenger — New Teaser Trailer
(in theaters August 29th)
How do you update a campy ‘80s cult classic like The Toxic Avenger for today’s audience? Simple—take the toxic waste and turn it into a sharp commentary on corporate greed, workers’ rights, and exploitation. This time, the villain is a shady corporation with terrible workers’ comp, and its CEO (played by Kevin Bacon with a ridiculous bob haircut) is as corrupt as they come.
Peter Dinklage stars as Winston Gooze, a janitor who suffers from debilitating headaches after years of cleaning up poisonous messes for a crooked company. When his insurance won’t cover an experimental drug to fix his pain, he’s fired for asking his boss for help. Enter The Toxic Avenger, a mutated superhero ready to stand up for workers everywhere—ripping corrupt overlords apart with his toxic mop in hand.
Directed by Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore), this remake mixes dark humor with modern social issues, making the Toxic Avenger the hero we need for a world where the powerful are getting away with more than ever. Featuring a cast that includes Taylour Paige, Jacob Tremblay, and Elijah Wood, The Toxic Avenger hits theaters August 29th. It’s time for the blue-collar hero to rise.
