Danielle Deadwyler Faces a Terrifying Ghost in Trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra's New Supernatural Horror "The Woman in the Yard"
A Mysterious Ghostly Figure Brings Death and Dread to a Family Farm in Blumhouse Horror Film From the Director of Orphan, Starring Danielle Deadwyler
Every culture seems to have its own version of a ghostly apparition of a grieving woman who ends up terrorizing anyone who happens to see her. In the upcoming supernatural horror thriller The Woman in the Yard, they take this folklore legend and give it a southern Gothic twist in the only way Blumhouse knows how: a ton of creepy atmosphere with a thick layer of dreadful apprehension.
Watch the first trailer for the forthcoming supernatural horror starring acclaimed actress Danielle Deadwyler (Till and The Piano Lesson) as an African American woman with a troubled past who is trying to protect her family when their isolated farmhouse is suddenly attacked by a mysterious apparition of a woman dressed entirely in black from head to toe.
This ghostly woman in black seemingly appears out of thin air to sit quietly in front of the family's front yard. Without moving an inch, she whispers in a creepy sing-song way, "Today's the day." Could this be an ominous warning that death has come for them? Or is it that today their lives will never be the same?
The Woman in the Yard is directed by Spanish-born helmer Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise), who returns to his horror roots after directing the 2009 horror sleeper Orphan. Collet-Serra also recently helmed the Christmas action thriller Carry-On, which became a huge hit, becoming one of Netflix's most viewed original films in their platform's history. Carry-On is also the first time Collet-Serra worked with Deadwyler, making this new film his second consecutive collaboration with the esteemed actress.
Written by first-time feature screenwriter Sam Stefanak and produced by Jason Blum, The Woman in the Yard is hitting theaters on March 28th.
