"The Studio" New DUHPOCALYPSE Trailer: Seth Rogen Takes on Hollywood’s Absurdity in Apple's New Satire Series
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are back again for a scathing look at the movie industry, featuring Kathryn Hahn, Johnny Knoxville and Josh Hutcherson
There’s a new big-budget zombie movie coming out soon, and there’s a lot of buzz surrounding it—and no, it ain’t 28 Years Later. This movie goes places other zombie flicks only dare to go. And it has an explosive trailer. So, feast your eyes on DUHPOCALYPSE! But be warned—it might come down with a severe case of pink eye.
Obviously, this is a fake trailer for an upcoming fake movie featured in the new Apple original series The Studio, starring Seth Rogen as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of a fictional movie studio called Continental Studios.
The series is a dark Hollywood satire, taking biting jabs at the incompetency that runs rampant in the movie-making business. Rogen’s Matt Remick enters the industry thinking he’ll change Hollywood and fix all its problems. Instead, he finds himself swallowed by the very machine he wanted to dismantle, churning out the lowest of the low when it comes to commercial drivel. Gone are the idealistic pursuits of art-driven entertainment, replaced by an endless regurgitation of meaningless spectacles dictated solely by profit potential.
Rogen and his longtime producing, directing, and writing partner Evan Goldberg created the series, which we assume is at least partially inspired by their own experiences working in Hollywood for years, both in front of and behind the camera. Rogen and Goldberg also direct the pilot episode of the series, sharing co-creator credits with Emmy-winning Veep writers Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory, along with writer Frida Perez.
The cast is stacked with top comedic talent, including Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Bryan Cranston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Dewayne Perkins. The series also features a slew of celebrities playing themselves, including Zoe Kravitz, Anthony Mackie, Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, Zac Efron, and Ron Howard.
Meanwhile, Johnny Knoxville and Josh Hutcherson appear as actors starring in Hollywood’s next big summer blockbuster—the zombie diarrhea comedy Duhpocalypse.
With Rogen and Goldberg at the helm, audiences should know exactly what to expect—a mix of crude humor, bathroom jokes, and surprisingly sharp satire.
The Studio is set to debut on March 26, exclusively on Apple TV +.
