"The Accountant 2" Trailer: Ben Affleck Returns as a Lethal Math Genius in Conspiracy-Thriller Sequel with Jon Bernthal
Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal reunite for a high-stakes conspiracy thriller, with Gavin O’Connor back in the director’s chair.
Ben Affleck returns as the most dangerous accountant you’ll ever meet. He’s a genius with numbers, but his skills with a gun aren’t too shabby either. Watch Affleck crunch the numbers like a human computer while unraveling a cryptic conspiracy that even the U.S. Treasury struggles to crack in the newly released trailer for Accountant 2.
In this sequel to the 2016 action thriller, Affleck reprises his role as Christian Wolff, a brilliant math savant on the autism spectrum. Once a forensic accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations, Christian specialized in “uncooking” books to launder money and conceal illicit activities.
Now, as an escaped convict, he’s drawn into an off-the-books investigation into the murder of U.S. Treasury agent Ray King (J.K. Simmons). Teaming up with Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson, reprising her role), Christian must “do what he needs to do” to solve this new “puzzle.”
But this time, he won’t be working alone—he enlists the help of covert assassin Brax (a returning Jon Bernthal), his long-lost brother. Together, the brothers must crack open the conspiracy, uncover who’s behind the murder, and track down a deadly new assassin (played by Daniella Pineda, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Cowboy Bebop).
Director Gavin O'Connor (Miracle, Warrior) and writer Bill Dubuque (Ozark)—the creative minds behind the first film—return for this new sequel, which delves deeper into Christian and Brax’s family dynamic while tapping into the same conspiratorial mystery that made the original so gripping.
The Accountant 2 is set to make its world premiere in a few weeks at this year’s SXSW Film Festival in March before hitting theaters on April 25th. Watch the trailer, above.
