"Shadow Force" Trailer: Kerry Washington and Omar Sy Bring the Heat in This Action-Packed Spy Thriller From Director Joe Carnahan
When two elite spies break the rules for love, their old team comes hunting. Now, it's an all-out war—family style.
Who says international spies have to look and act like James Bond?
Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Omar Sy (Lupin) prove that the best spies are the ones who combine their skills to become an unstoppable force—a force you definitely don’t want to mess with.
Check out the newly released trailer for Shadow Force, a high-octane action comedy from Joe Carnahan, the action maestro behind Smokin' Aces, The A-Team, The Grey, Boss Level, and Copshop.
Carnahan brings his signature hyper-kinetic style to this spy thriller about two elite operatives, Kyrah and Isaac (played by Washington and Sy), who lead a multinational special forces group known as Shadow Force.
But as we all know, working that closely together for too long can lead to complications—especially when feelings start to develop. Before they know it, a romance blossoms, and they break one of the spy game’s cardinal rules (right after “don’t get caught”): never fall in love with another spy. Against the odds, the two operatives defy protocol, start a family together, and try to leave the game behind—but in their world, love comes with a target on your back.
Now, with their secret marriage and young son to protect at all costs, Kyrah and Isaac must turn the tables on their ruthless former boss (played by Kingsman's Mark Strong). As they fight to stay one step ahead, they find themselves in an all-out war with the very clandestine organization they once served.
But never fear—Kyrah and Isaac have a lethal card up their sleeve. It’s time to send in the cavalry: Auntie and Unc!
They’re not just family—they’re also two deadly operatives (played by Oscar-winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Clifford “Method Man” Smith) who have been waiting for an opportunity to show exactly what they can do.
Co-starring Natalia Reyes, Krondon, Yoson An, and Jahleel Kamara, Shadow Force is directed by Joe Carnahan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Leon Chills (Amazon's The Wilds).
Washington also serves as a producer under her company, Simpson Street, working alongside Sterling K. Brown’s label Indian Meadows and producer Steven “Dr.” Love.
Filmmaker Victoria Mahoney (Yelling to the Sky) was originally slated to direct, but Carnahan eventually took over after reworking the script himself. Mahoney, however, has since moved on to direct The Old Guard 2, the Netflix sequel starring Charlize Theron, which is also set to release later this year.
Shadow Force lands in theaters on May 2nd.
