"Salvable" Trailer: A Boxer’s Struggle Between Family and Crime in This Gritty British Drama Starring Toby Kebbell and Shia LaBeouf
Kebbell steps back into the ring for redemption while LaBeouf stirs up chaos in this intense tale of second chances, fractured friendships, and the brutal cost of staying clean.
With films like Guy Ritchie’s kinetic crime romp RocknRolla, the blockbuster sequel War for the Planet of the Apes, and the monster hit Kong: Skull Island, British actor Toby Kebbell has proven he’s not only willing to take on a wide range of roles—but that he can also be an explosive presence onscreen. Now, what happens when Kebbell goes toe-to-toe with someone who might be just as explosive—but even more unpredictable and raw—than anyone he’s worked with before? Fireworks, we suppose.
Toby Kebbell and Shia LaBeouf join forces for the new gritty British boxing drama Salvable, with a newly released trailer offering a first look at this unexpected pairing of two actors who just might share the same level of erratic unconventionality.
Kebbell plays a once-promising prize fighter who never got his shot at the big time, only to find himself at the end of his rope. Now washed-up and struggling, he stands at a crossroads—forced to choose between becoming a strong leader for his family and a good father to his teenage daughter, or slipping back into a life of trouble and self-destruction.
Meanwhile, LaBeouf plays Kebbell’s old childhood friend from the neighborhood, who has been recently released after years in prison. And it doesn’t take long before he starts creeping back into the boxer’s life, becoming the same toxic influence he once was. Planning a return to a life of thievery, LaBeouf’s character—like the devil on his shoulder—tries to lure Kebbell back in, getting inside his head and coaxing him to join his crew of small-time criminals.
Now the question is: does Kebbell’s character give in to these destructive urges—or does he step back into the ring, this time fighting not for boxing glory, but for his life and his family?
Directed by filmmaking duo Björn Franklin and Johnny Marchetta—best known for their music videos for British artists like Calum Scott, Gabrielle Aplin & Nina Nesbitt—the film marks their feature directorial debut, working from a script penned by Franklin.
Salvable co-stars James Cosmo, Elaine Cassidy, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Barry Ward, and Aiysha Hart. The film makes its way to U.S. theaters, VOD, and digital platforms on May 2nd. Watch the trailer, above.
