"O'Dessa" Trailer: Sadie Sink Kicks Off a Rock Revolution in This Post-Apocalyptic Rock Opera with Kelvin Harrison Jr., Regina Hall, and Murray Bartlett
From writer-director Geremy Jasper, this electrifying rock odyssey follows a farm girl turned rebel rocker in a dystopian wasteland, starring Sadie Sink, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Murray Bartlett.
On Netflix’s hit genre-bending series Stranger Things, Sadie Sink has faced her fair share of bizarre creatures and been put through some extraordinarily freaky situations. But something tells us that was just a weird training ground for what she’s about to take on in her latest project—singing like an atomic-infused rockabilly, trekking across a Mad Max-like wasteland, and kicking off a revolution!
Praise the Almighty, because O'Dessa is here! And she’s going to save us all—with the electrifying power of rock music!
Take a look at the official trailer for O’Dessa, a post-apocalyptic rock opera from writer-director Geremy Jasper, the acclaimed music video director who made his feature debut with the 2017 crowd-pleasing aspiring rapper drama Patti Cake$.
In Jasper’s follow-up, Sadie Sink takes on the title role of O’Dessa, a simple farm girl with the voice of an angel and an old vintage steel guitar. Determined to chase her dreams, she embarks on a mythical journey to become a post-apocalyptic rockabilly star—something like a cross between Brandi Carlile and K.D. Lang.
Her journey takes her to the sinful, sleazy wasteland of Satellite City, a place where anyone can make it—if they have the guts to take it. But the city is ruled with an iron fist by Plutonovich (The White Lotus star Murray Bartlett), a sadistic demagogue who abuses people not just for fun, but for live entertainment. With his loyal enforcer (Regina Hall) keeping order, Plutonovich lives like a king.
However, his empire faces a serious threat when O’Dessa arrives, captivating the city with her music and winning over hearts—including that of a local club singer, played by Kelvin Harrison Jr. A rock revolution isn’t far behind.
Co-starring Mark Boone Junior, Marinko Prga, Bree Elrod, Dora Dimic Rakar, and musician Pokey LaFarge, O'Dessa is slated to make its world premiere in March at the SXSW Film Festival. Shortly after, the film, which is already set up at Searchlight Pictures, will be released as a Hulu original, set to stream on Thursday, March 13th.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
