New TV Trailers: Untitled Tim Burton Docuseries, North of North, Poker Face: Season 2, Godfather of Harlem: Season 4, and Leverage: Redemption Season 3
Untitled Tim Burton Documentary Series Promo Trailer: A Four-Part Deep Dive into the Filmmaker’s Visionary Career Featuring Exclusive Interviews With His Longtime Collaborators – Currently Seeking Distribution!
It’s amazing to see how independently made documentaries have evolved beyond just spotlighting social activism, true crime, or untold stories of injustice, malpractice, and violations. In recent years, a wave of indie documentaries has emerged, catering specifically to movie fandom and cinephiles. These films explore everything from the making of cult classics to in-depth biographies of influential artists, as well as retrospectives on genres, film eras, and entire filmographies.
We’re truly living in a golden age of movie fan-centric documentaries. If you loved a film—no matter how obscure—or admired a filmmaker, no matter how niche, from the 1980s, ’90s, or early 2000s, there’s a good chance a documentary has already been made or is in the works covering that very subject.
Which brings us to this new four-part, authorized documentary that delves into the films of visionary filmmaker Tim Burton. For anyone who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s, this is sure to spark interest, as Burton was one of the first directors of that era to establish a truly distinct voice and visual style from the start.
With a background in animation—perhaps the key to his wildly inventive aesthetic—Burton was, for many, an early introduction to the idea of what a director is and what they bring to a film. His work not only shaped the imaginations of a generation but also set a precedent for filmmakers with bold, unconventional visions.
Directed by Tara Wood (21 Years: Richard Linklater, QT8: The First Eight) and featuring exclusive interviews with many of Burton's longtime collaborators, supporters, and admirers, this untitled Tim Burton documentary series is currently being shopped around for potential buyers. Apparently, the first installment of the four-part docuseries was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, where it met with high praise and excitement from critics. The makers behind the project have released this promotional trailer online. Watch it above.

“North of North” Trailer: New Canadian Comedy Series Spotlights Inuit Life in a Small Arctic Town as Canadian Inuk actress Anna Lambe Navigates Motherhood, Dating, and Small-Town Gossip – Arrives on Netflix April 10th
The Inuit people are the Indigenous population traditionally inhabiting the Arctic and Subarctic regions of North America. Despite their rich cultural history, they have largely been overlooked in mainstream Western media, aside from a handful of films and television shows. That’s why this new Netflix series might be an eye-opener for some and a welcome change, offering a refreshing break from the typical comedies audiences are accustomed to.
North of North, a Canadian-produced comedy series, is one of the first Canadian shows to feature an almost entirely Indigenous cast. In many ways, it could be seen as Canada’s answer to the critically acclaimed FX series Reservation Dogs, a groundbreaking show that helped pave the way for more Indigenous stories in television.
This series, however, takes place in a small Arctic town in Canada—hence its fitting title, North of North.
Canadian Inuk actress Anna Lambe, whom you might have recently seen in the Alaska-set True Detective: Night Country, stars as Siaja, a newly separated young Inuk woman. After a very public breakup with the town’s golden boy, Siaja is forced to move back in with her mother while trying to piece her life back together.
Now a single mother to a young daughter, she navigates the challenges of parenting, rediscovering herself, and re-entering the dating scene. The biggest hurdle? In a small Arctic town where everyone knows everyone’s business, finding new love isn’t exactly easy.
As a comedy, North of North takes a lighthearted approach, following Siaja as she fumbles through life’s ups and downs with humor and heart.
Co-created by Canadian Inuk showrunners Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril—both of whom served as producers on the 2018 Canadian lacrosse drama The Grizzlies—North of North premiered in January on Canadian television to mostly positive reviews.
The series, which features a cast that includes Mary Lynn Rajskub, Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, and Jay Ryan, is now set to make its U.S. debut on Netflix on Thursday, April 10.
“Poker Face: Season 2” Teaser: Natasha Lyonne Returns as Human Lie Detector Charlie Cale in New Season of Rian Johnson's Hit Peacock Series – Premieres May 8th
Natasha Lyonne might have been born to play Charlie Cale, a sassy, whip-smart cocktail waitress who uses her uncanny ability to tell when people are lying to solve crimes and mysteries in Peacock's hit detective show Poker Face.
Lyonne herself has an uncanny ability to be both unassuming and lethally astute, which works perfectly for this character—often compared to a modern-day Columbo. Dare we say, Natasha Lyonne is our generation’s Peter Falk?
Well, Poker Face returns for its second season, and you better believe there will be new crime cases, murders, and mysteries for Lyonne’s Charlie to unravel as she rides into town in her Plymouth Barracuda.
And with each new episode comes a whole new roster of big-name guest stars playing the “unusual suspects,” and this season is no exception. Expect to see some familiar faces, including Cynthia Erivo, Katie Holmes, Giancarlo Esposito, Awkwafina, Clifford “Method Man” Smith, Justin Theroux, Taylor Schilling, Kumail Nanjiani, and Melanie Lynskey.
Created by Knives Out filmmaker Rian Johnson, Poker Face: Season 2 premieres May 8th on Peacock, giving you plenty of time to catch up on Season 1, which is still available to stream.
“Godfather of Harlem: Season 4” Trailer: Forest Whitaker’s Bumpy Johnson Faces a New Threat as Frank Lucas Arrives – Premieres April 13th on MGM+
With so many streaming platforms out there, it’s hard to keep track of which shows to watch and which ones to avoid at all costs. Well, Godfather of Harlem just might fall into the category of shows more people should be paying attention to.
This award-winning, fictionalized historical series stars Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker as Bumpy Johnson, one of Harlem’s most notorious mob bosses. But the story takes place in the 1960s, during the height of the civil rights movement. After serving a long prison sentence, Bumpy returns to the streets he barely recognizes. Inspired by civil rights leaders like Malcolm X, he sets out not just to reclaim Harlem but to protect it from the growing threat of crime and drugs. To do so, he must broker a fragile peace with New York’s Mafia families—mainly Vincent "The Chin" Gigante (Daredevil’s Vincent D’Onofrio)—while also keeping Harlem safe from local gangsters.
In Season 4, Bumpy will face the arrival of a new rising drug lord—Frank Lucas, played by How to Get Away with Murder’s Rome Flynn.
(Side note: Frank Lucas was famously portrayed by Denzel Washington in Ridley Scott’s American Gangster.)
Godfather of Harlem: Season 4 premieres on April 13th on MGM+.
“Leverage: Redemption Season 3” Trailer: The 'Leverage' Team is Back with Aldis Hodge, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf, Aleyse Shannon and Noah Wyle – Premieres April 17th on Prime Video
Leverage was an action-crime series that ran for five seasons on TNT in the early 2010s. Executive produced by Dean Devlin (The Librarians, Independence Day), the show wasn’t necessarily groundbreaking—it followed the familiar premise of a team of thieves and con artists who used their skills for good, stealing from the rich and powerful to get justice for the helpless. What set it apart, however, was the cast’s winning and infectious chemistry. It genuinely felt like these actors loved working together, which is one of the main reasons the show has gained a cult following over the years.
Fast forward to 2021, and the producers brought Leverage back with a revival called Leverage: Redemption. Most of the original cast—Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, and Beth Riesgraf—returned, while Noah Wyle was added to lead the team. The revival also introduced Aleyse Shannon, replacing Aldis Hodge, who had played the team's resident hacker and cyber expert. Hodge, now a highly in-demand actor, made a few guest appearances but wasn’t a full-time cast member.
Now, here’s the thing—Leverage: Redemption had two seasons but was shuffled onto Amazon’s now-defunct platform, Freevee.
Season 3, however, premieres April 17th on Prime Video, and it looks like Aldis Hodge has managed to carve out space in his schedule to return as a full recurring cast member. So, the old gang is officially back!
And with Noah Wyle currently delivering an Emmy-worthy lead performance on the MAX medical series The Pitt, Leverage: Redemption might just be that comfort show waiting to be re-discovered.
