“The Last of Us: Season 2” Trailer: Joel and Ellie (Pedro Pascal & Bella Ramsey) Face Brutal Consequences in Highly Anticipated New Season of HBO’s Post-Apocalyptic Horror Thriller – Premieres April 13th
Imagine a world so terrifying that people must live inside while monstrous creatures roam freely outside. The only thing standing between you and certain doom is a thin line of defense. But here's the bigger question—it's not just about defending yourself from the monsters. What happens when you can't tell who the real monster is? When the person you thought you knew is staring back at you, and you don’t recognize them anymore. What then?
The Last of Us, HBO's hit post-apocalyptic horror series based on Naughty Dog's uber-popular video game franchise, returns next month with great anticipation. The stakes are higher than ever, as the series is set for a huge emotional climax surrounding the increasingly fractured relationship between Joel and Ellie (again played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey). Things are coming to a head, with lies and death becoming not just a way of life but also the foundation of dark secrets that threaten Joel and Ellie's father-daughter-like bond.
While those already familiar with the video game might know the fate of Joel and Ellie, it doesn’t change the fact that they are the heart of this series. Watching them become at odds with each other is something we hate to see.
But who knows? Showrunners Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann (head video game developer at Naughty Dog) have made a few slight changes with the show before, emphasizing that it’s its own thing, separate from the video game. After all, it’s a different medium. However, hardcore fans of the game have expressed frustration with the show’s changes, despite the creators' intention to stay true to the video game's DNA.
Could Joel and Ellie's future in the series be altered in a way that differs from the game? It’s definitely a possibility. Just look at another zombie-themed horror series that took creative liberties—The Walking Dead. The show features characters who aren't even in the comic book, its source material, and several characters’ fates have been completely reworked for the show. So, who's to say The Last of Us won't follow suit and surprise us with its own twists? We can already see the online debates heating up if the producers decide to diverge from the game. —Now that's a horde we definitely don’t want to face!
The Last of Us: Season 2 brings Joel and Ellie (Pascal and Ramsey) back as they navigate a community of survivors, following the collapse of the world due to a global fungal virus pandemic that turned infected people into mutated, zombie-like cannibals.
Now outside the quarantine zone, Joel and Ellie face new threats as they encounter new people—and in Ellie's case, a new love (played by Isabela Merced). And as Joel and Ellie search for a path forward, hard truths, dark secrets, and the consequences of some heinous actions threaten to tear them apart... for good.
Kaitlyn Dever makes her introduction in Season 2 as Abby, a notoriously vengeful soldier character from the video games.
Dever joins other new Season 2 cast members including Jeffrey Wright, Catherine O'Hara, Joe Pantoliano and Young Mazino, while Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley return as Tommy, Joel's younger brother, and his wife Maria.
The Last of Us: Season 2 premieres April 13 on HBO and MAX. Watch the full trailer above.
“The Studio” Full Trailer: Seth Rogen’s Hollywood Satire Brings A-List Chaos and Industry Insanity to Apple TV+ – Premieres March 26th
Every decade or so, Hollywood likes to take a little self-aware jab at itself. It's their way of showing they still have a sense of humor—just in case we forgot. And with all those giant egos and larger-than-life personalities running around Hollywood, the movie industry is practically begging for a good ol' punchline or two. Honestly, sometimes the jokes just write themselves.
Some classic examples of great Hollywood satires? Robert Altman’s The Player (1992), Barry Sonnenfeld’s Get Shorty (1995), Christopher Guest’s For Your Consideration (2006), Frank Oz and Steve Martin’s Bowfinger (1999), and Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder (2008)—just to name a few.
Now, it seems Seth Rogen and his longtime producing partner Evan Goldberg are the latest comedic masterminds stepping up to the plate to get Hollywood a taste of their own medicine. And let’s just say, they've got a treasure trove of material to dig through. Hollywood’s never been more ripe for a good-natured ribbing, and we’re all here for it. We can't wait to laugh at all the Tinseltown insanity.
In Rogen and Goldberg's upcoming Apple original comedy series The Studio, the movie industry is the target of some biting jabs and comedic punches, as Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of a fictional movie studio called Continental Studios.
This series, brimming with A-list cameos playing themselves, shows Rogen’s Remick entering the industry with big dreams—thinking he’ll change Hollywood and fix all its problems. But instead, he gets swallowed whole by the very machine he wanted to tear down. Now he finds himself churning out some of the worst commercial drivel imaginable. Eventually, Remick has a moment of clarity: he might just be part of the reason Hollywood's been floundering lately, but at this point, there’s no stopping it. It’s just too big to reset.
Joining Rogen in the cast are Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Bryan Cranston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Dewayne Perkins.
And if that wasn’t enough star power, the series also boasts a slew of celebrities playing themselves, all ready to take a jab at their own Hollywood personas. Expect appearances from Zoe Kravitz, Anthony Mackie, Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, Zac Efron, Ron Howard, Johnny Knoxville, Josh Hutcherson, Sarah Polley, and many more. It’s basically a comedy buffet of Tinseltown’s finest, all eager to laugh at themselves.
The Studio will be premiering on March 26th, exclusively on Apple TV+. Watch the official full trailer above.
“The Last Anniversary” Trailer: Teresa Palmer Unravels Three Generations of Family Secrets in Liane Moriarty’s Australian Mystery Series – Premieres March 30th on AMC+
It honestly boggles the mind why Teresa Palmer isn’t a bigger star. But then again, fame and fortune aren’t exactly reliable indicators of talent—just look at how some of the richest and most famous people in the world can be complete dullards.
Teresa Palmer, though, has had our attention since her role in the 2013 zombie comedy Warm Bodies. And let’s not forget her role in the totally bonkers YA action thriller I Am Number Four—hey, don’t judge us, we thought it was good... it's a guilty pleasure.
Teresa Palmer, an Australian-born actress, has carved out a solid career, appearing in a range of projects over the years—some hits (Hacksaw Ridge, Lights Out, and The Fall Guy) and some that flew just under the radar (The Choice, Berlin Syndrome, Message from the King). But it looks like Palmer might have finally hit the jackpot with the British fantasy series A Discovery of Witches, which both critics and audiences seemed to really enjoy.
Now, Palmer has once more teamed up with AMC, the U.S. network behind A Discovery of Witches, for her latest television project, which takes her back to her home country of Australia — where she finds herself working under the guidance of executive producer Nicole Kidman.
Based on the best-selling mystery novel by famed Aussie author Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers, and Apples Never Fall), The Last Anniversary places Palmer on an island off the coast of Sydney. She plays Sophie Honeywell, a writer who inherits a house from her ex-boyfriend's great-aunt, only to discover three generations of family mysteries waiting to be unlocked.
Also starring Miranda Richardson, Danielle Macdonald, Claude Scott-Mitchell, Uli Latukefu, and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, and created by showrunner Samantha Strauss (Apple Cider Vinegar, Nine Perfect Strangers), The Last Anniversary premieres March 30th on AMC+.
“#1 Happy Family USA” Trailer: Comedian Ramy Youssef’s Animated Sitcom Tackles Muslim-American Life with Sharp Social Satire – Streaming April 17th on Prime Video
Stand-up comedian Ramy Youssef has become quite the television powerhouse these days. After creating and starring in his critically acclaimed semi-biographical comedy series Ramy for three seasons on Hulu, Youssef went on to co-create the Netflix immigrant comedy series MO alongside fellow comic Mo Amer. He also earned an Emmy nomination for directing an episode of the Emmy-winning series The Bear. Now, Youssef has turned his attention to animation, bringing his sharp satire, absurdity, and social commentary to the cartoon world.
#1 Happy Family USA is a seemingly typical animated sitcom about an upbeat American family navigating the daily grind of suburban life. The twist? It’s a Muslim family in post-9/11 “Amreeka” trying to get by without being unjustly labeled as un-American by narrow-minded folks and terrified neighbors.
Inspired by Ramy Youssef's own childhood memories of growing up in New Jersey in the early 2000s, during the aftermath of America’s war on terrorism, the series boasts a stacked voice cast led by Alia Shawkat, Mandy Moore, Chris Redd, Salma Hindy, Randa Jarrar, Akaash Singh, and Whitmer Thomas. Of course, Ramy himself voices both the family patriarch, Hussein Hussein, and his young son, Rumi.
Co-created by comedy writer Pam Brady, known for co-writing the classic animated comedies Team America: World Police and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, #1 Happy Family USA is set to debut on Prime Video on April 17th.
“Mid-Century Modern” Trailer: Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, and Nathan Lee Graham Redefine Chosen Family in New Sitcom from the Creators of Will & Grace – Premieres March 28th on Hulu
Imagine a multi-camera sitcom that not only hails from the creators of Will & Grace, Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, but also boasts executive producer Ryan Murphy. And if that’s not enough, the show is directed by the legendary 84-year-old James Burrows, whose credits include Friends, Cheers, The Bob Newhart Show, Taxi, and 3rd Rock from the Sun. With all this talent behind the scenes, you can bet this show is a bit more than your typical American sitcom recorded in front of a live audience, as it delves into the dynamics of friendship and the different stages of adulthood.
Mid-Century Modern, a new Hulu original sitcom, features the great Nathan Lane as a wealthy retiree who decides to create his own family by inviting his two fellow gay best friends (played by Matt Bomer and Nathan Lee Graham) to live with him in his stunning Mid-Century Modern estate in sun-soaked Palm Springs.
Television legend Linda Lavin (Alice) stars alongside Lane as his mother, who also resides with him. Sadly, Lavin, 87, passed away in December from complications of lung cancer, making this her final television performance.
Mid-Century Modern also stars Pamela Adlon and will debut on Hulu on Friday, March 28th.
