“Hacks: Season 4” Trailer: Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder Take Their Comedy Feud to the Next Level in MAX’s Emmy-Winning Hit – Premieres April 10th
Since debuting back in 2021 during the early launch of HBO Max (now just MAX), Hacks has slowly become an award-winning powerhouse, steadily building a loyal following. Now entering its fourth season, the critically acclaimed series—a sharp satire of the comedy industry—features Jean Smart as a stand-up legend (in the vein of Joan Rivers and Phyllis Diller) and Hannah Einbinder as a millennial comedy writer on the rise.
What started as a take on the generational divide—exploring the clash between old-school comedy sensibilities and evolving cultural norms—has evolved into one of the most celebrated TV comedies in recent years. And much of the critical praise has been directed toward its leads, TV veteran Jean Smart and newcomer Hannah Einbinder, who complement each other brilliantly—when they're not at each other’s throats, that is.
At its core, the show revolves around the contentious working relationship between Smart’s Deborah Vance and Einbinder’s Ava Daniels, two professional women in comedy at very different stages in their lives but at similar crossroads, both desperate to revitalize their careers. As one of Las Vegas’s top stand-up comics, Deborah is staging a big Hollywood comeback with the help of her new joke writer, Ava, a floundering comedy television writer.
But with success comes new ambition—Deborah sets her sights on claiming the late-night talk show crown, while Ava looks to step out of Deborah’s shadow and make a name for herself in the business.
With returning cast members Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Megan Stalter, Rose Abdoo, Mark Indelicato, and Paul W. Downs (who also co-created the show and serves as co-showrunner alongside Jen Statsky and Lucia Aniello), Hacks: Season 4 is gearing up for another sharp, hilarious, and biting jab at the business of making comedy. The show returns on April 10 on MAX.
“YOU: Season 5” Trailer: Penn Badgley Returns as Joe Goldberg for a Deadly Final Chapter in Netflix’s Psychological Thriller – Premieres April 24th
Guess who’s coming back to New York City? Well, none other than Joe. And if he can get his things in order, he’s going to paint this town red.
Penn Badgley returns for the fifth and final season of Netflix‘s hit psychological thriller YOU. Badgley once again steps into the role of Joe Goldberg, a seemingly ordinary bookstore manager with a killer secret—he has a habit of obsessively stalking the women he dates and occasionally giving in to his homicidal urges.
After posing under a new name and living in London for the duration of Season 4, Joe is back in the city where it all began. But this time, his reputation is starting to catch up with him as the public begins to question his shady past. That doesn't stop Joe from obsessing over his next victim… err, the new woman in his life, that is.
It seems Joe will find himself in an existential crisis, torn between his desperate belief that he can be a “normal guy” and the inescapable consequences of his past. But retribution is coming, and no matter how hard Joe tries to outrun his ghosts, his dark desires are never far behind. It’s going to be a “killer” finale.
Season 5 of YOU also features Madeline Brewer, Anna Camp, Amy-Leigh Hickman, and Griffin Matthews.
Based on the best-selling novels by Caroline Kepnes, the series hails from executive producers Greg Berlanti (The CW's Arrowverse) and Sera Gamble (The Magicians, Supernatural).
YOU originally began as a Lifetime original series but was canceled after one season—only for Netflix to pick it up and turn it into a cultural phenomenon, making Penn Badgley an unlikely heartthrob despite his character being, well, unquestionably evil.
YOU: Season 5 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, April 24.
