New Netflix Anime Trailers: The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep and Castlevania: Nocturne: Season 2
"The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep": Geralt of Rivia, Voiced by Video Game Voice Actor Doug Cockle, Takes on a Deadly Aquatic War in Netflix’s New Animated Film — Streaming February 11
The Witcher fantasy and video game franchise has not only found massive success as a live-action television series, but Netflix has also expanded the universe into animation. It's the gift that keeps on giving. With its rich history and well-established fantasy world created by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher universe is a natural fit for an anime feature. And with Netflix aiming to grow its original anime catalog, this just might be the perfect marriage.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep explores the centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople (that's right, merpeople). This new animated film delves into the aquatic side of this fantasy world, where monsters of all kinds exist. This time, voice actor Doug Cockle brings his gruff, deep tones to the role of monster slayer for hire, Geralt of Rivia. In fact, Cockle voiced Geralt previously in the 2015 video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Fans of the video game will likely be pleased to hear a familiar voice in this new Netflix anime, which sees Geralt traveling through a seaside village, only to become entangled in an escalating war between an aquatic empire of merwarriors and human villagers on dry land.
Directed by Kang Hei Chul and written by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, with voices by Joey Batey returning as Jaskier, Anya Chalotra back as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Christina Wren as Essi Daven, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will be debuting on Netflix on February 11th.
"Castlevania: Nocturne" Returns for Season 2 — Richter Belmont and Maria Renard Face a Vampire Queen in Netflix’s Gothic Anime Hit, Streaming January 16
Netflix's hit anime series Castlevania: Nocturne returns for a brand-new season this week. You only have a few days left to catch up on Season 1 before diving into Season 2 this weekend.
Inspired by historical events from the 1792 French Revolution and the folklore surrounding Hungarian noblewoman and alleged serial killer Elizabeth Bathory, Castlevania: Nocturne reimagines a Gothic vampire story where Bathory is an ancient vampire queen claiming to be the reincarnation of the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet. She is voiced by Run Lola Run actress Franka Potente.
A sequel to the acclaimed Castlevania anime series, based on the iconic video game franchise by Konami, Nocturne primarily follows vampire hunter Richter Belmont (voiced by Edward Bluemel) and his adoptive sister, Maria Renard (Pixie Davies), as they form new alliances to confront a Vampire Messiah threatening to unleash an apocalypse.
Castlevania: Nocturne returns for Season 2 on Netflix on January 16th. Watch the newly released full trailer above.
