Netflix Unveils 2025 Slate: Get Sneak Peeks at The Old Guard 2, The Residence, The Electric State, Troll 2 and More
From hit series like Wednesday and Squid Game expansions to live sports and WWE, Netflix teases an exciting year ahead with new teasers and behind-the-scenes footage.
No matter how you feel about the state of the streaming world, Netflix has certainly weathered the storm to remain one of the top streamers, if not the top streaming platform users go to daily. But being on top means you need to deliver. And Netflix is showing what they have to offer their subscribers in 2025.
During this week's annual company showcase, Netflix made a few nice announcements, highlighting their slate of films and television shows coming out this year. Obviously, the big Netflix events this year include Stranger Things: Final Season, Guillermo del Toro's new Frankenstein movie, Wednesday: Season 2, and Tina Fey's new comedy The Four Seasons. The company also touted their latest push for live events, which now includes comedy specials, sports events, and WWE matches. Squid Game has become a genuine popular franchise for Netflix, and they plan to capitalize on this popularity by offering more video game tie-ins.
Netflix has released online a slew of teasers, behind-the-scenes clips, and first looks at some of their projects coming out this year. They range from the highly anticipated to the excitingly unexpected, showcasing a variety of genres and new shows for subscribers to look forward to. Here we gather those clips for you to check out:
The Old Guard 2 — Behind the Scenes Sneak Peek
Charlize Theron returns for the sequel to the hit Netflix action comic book film about a covert team of immortal mercenaries fighting to protect the world in a centuries-long war against a shadowy organization. Here's a quick behind-the-scenes look at the team back in action (KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts, Chiwetel Ejiofor), with Theron performing many of her own stunts. Uma Thurman and Henry Golding join the cast as director Victoria Mahoney (Yelling to the Sky) takes over the directing reins. The Netflix movie is set to be released in the summer, in July.
The Residence — Official Teaser
132 rooms. 157 suspects. 1 dead body... Emmy-winner Uzo Aduba joins the world of Shonda Rhimes as Shondaland takes a stab at the whodunnit mystery craze. In this Agatha Christie-like murder mystery with a dark comedic slant, Aduba plays Cordelia Cupp, a brilliant consultant for the DC homicide detective department. She is called in to the White House after a body is found during a state dinner. Now everyone is a suspect, even the U.S. President and his staff. The show also stars Giancarlo Esposito, Susan Kelechi Watson, Jason Lee, Randall Park, Ken Marino, Bronson Pinchot, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. It debuts on March 20.
The Electric State — Sneak Peek Clip
From directors Anthony and Joe Russo, this new retro-futurism action adventure stars Millie Bobby Brown as an orphaned teenager searching for her long-lost brother in an alternative 1990s dystopian world, where humanity is recovering from a failed robot uprising. She soon partners up with a war veteran-turned black market smuggler (Chris Pratt), who takes her to a walled-off forbidden desert zone, where old, discarded robots live on their own. In this clip, we see Pratt and Bobby Brown getting a ride from Pratt’s robot sidekick and smuggling partner, Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie). The film premieres on March 14th.
Troll 2 — First Look Clip
Watch an early clip from the upcoming sequel to the 2022 Norwegian monster movie about the discovery of an ancient giant troll that was awakened from a mountain. The sequel finds Norway on the brink of total annihilation once again as a new gigantic troll awakens, spreading terror and chaos across the country. The film will be coming out later in the year.
Forever — Teaser
Based on Judy Blume's groundbreaking 1975 novel, this new Netflix series offers a modern-day reimagining of the heartfelt love story between two teens (Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr.), who become each other’s first loves, set against the backdrop of an African American community in Los Angeles in 2018. From showrunner Mara Brock Akil, the series debuts sometime in 2025.
Wayward — First Look Clip
Get a sneak peek at the new mystery thriller mini-series created by and starring Canadian comedian Mae Martin. Toni Collette plays the youth coach and face of Tall Pine Academy for troubled teens. Martin plays a newly transferred small-town deputy who discovers the school isn’t exactly as helpful to teens as they claim to be. The show will be coming soon.
Apple Cider Vinegar — Official Clip
In this new limited series based on true events, Kaitlyn Dever portrays Belle Gibson, a real-life Australian health advocate and social media star who was exposed for lying about being diagnosed with brain cancer, which she used as leverage to launch her healthcare empire and sell her natural therapies to followers. The clip shows how Belle tried to manipulate the media, despite her misinformation hurting people. She’s a modern-day snake oil saleswoman. The show debuts on February 6th.
Cobra Kai: Season 6 (Part 3) — Sneak Peek Clip
Get a sneak peek at the final episodes of Cobra Kai, the hit Karate Kid prequel series. Part 3 of the final season is set stream on February 13th.
The Leopard — Trailer
A new Italian epic, set against the backdrop of revolution in 1860s Sicily, centers around Prince Fabrizio Salina as he fights to save his family from ruin. With revolution sweeping the land, he's forced to strike a risky deal with a powerful new-money family—but their ambitions threaten everything he stands for. Based on the classic Italian novel, and starring Kim Rossi Stuart, Benedetta Porcaroli, Deva Cassel and Saul Nanni, the Netflix movie premieres on March 5th.
Zero Day — Sneak Peek Clip
Robert De Niro tries to get to the bottom of a massive and devastating cyber attack that has just hit America in this new political mystery-thriller series. De Niro plays former U.S. president George Mullen, who has just been put in charge of leading an investigation into the terrorist attacks. In this clip, we see him interrogating a potential suspect. The Netflix show debuts on February 20th.
YOU: Season 5 (Final Season) — New Teaser
Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg makes his final statement about love and obsession as he returns to New York City, where it all began. But will he continue to succumb to his darkest and most homicidal impulses? We guess yes. Prepare for Joe’s “killer homecoming” in the epic finale, set for an April 24th premiere.
