"Neighborhood Watch" Trailer: Jack Quaid and Jeffrey Dean Morgan Team Up for a Quirky, Darkly Comic Investigation Into a Possible Abduction
In this quirky crime thriller, Quaid plays a delusional man who, with the help of his cranky neighbor (Morgan), investigates a possible abduction—whether it's real or just in his head.
Quick question: who’s that one actor in Hollywood who can perfectly play the everyman? You know—the normal schlub who stumbles into a bad situation and just tries his best to get out of it. He might not always win, but you’re rooting for him anyway. And no matter how good or bad the script is, he always comes off as a decent dude you wouldn’t mind hanging with for two hours or however long the movie is. He’s just a perfectly average, likable guy.
Well, if you’d asked us that question a few years ago, we’d have said Luke Wilson, hands down without hesitation.
But after this year? Jack Quaid has officially taken the crown. With his charming, down-to-earth vibe and effortless likability, Quaid has become the go-to guy for that relatable role. From Novocaine and The Boys to his more recent turns in horror films like Companion and Scream, he’s shown a knack for picking roles that lean into his affable screen presence.
The best part? He’s making smart choices—projects that play to his strengths and cement him as the everyman hero for a new generation.
So if we tell you Jack Quaid has a new movie where he’s playing a heavily disheveled, shaggy-haired guy spiraling into psychotic delusions—just know this: he’s still a good dude.
In the darkly comedic crime thriller Neighborhood Watch, Jack Quaid stars as Simon, a man battling delusions who becomes convinced he’s just witnessed a woman being abducted and thrown into a white van against her will. Spiraling between paranoia and genuine concern, Simon takes it upon himself to investigate—whether the neighborhood wants him to or not.
Simon does the right thing by filing a police report. But when detectives dismiss his testimony, chalking it up to his mental illness, he feels compelled to take matters into his own hands. Still, in case this whole abduction thing is truly something he made up in his head, Simon knows he’ll need a more grounded and stable partner to keep things in check.
Enter: Ed—Simon’s bitter, cranky next-door neighbor who just so happens to be a retired cop with a deep dislike for people and an even deeper hatred for Simon. Reluctantly roped in, Ed agrees to help investigate the supposed missing-person case, and soon, the two unlikely partners are off on a chaotic, offbeat quest to uncover the truth—whether it's real or not.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who recently appeared alongside Jack Quaid in Season 4 of The Boys, takes on the role of the crotchety Ed, the reluctant neighbor who slowly starts to realize Simon might actually be on to something, as unsettling clues and signs of wrongdoing begin to surface.
Rounding out the cast is Morgan’s Watchmen co-star Malin Akerman, playing Simon’s no-nonsense sister, who finds herself pulled into the increasingly chaotic investigation. What starts as a shaggy dog mystery quickly spirals into something much bigger—and possibly much more dangerous.
Neighborhood Watch is directed by Duncan Skiles, best known for directing the 2018 serial killer thriller The Clovehitch Killer, which has become a cult favorite over the years, popping onto online lists of the best overlooked films in recent years. Skiles directs from a screenplay by Sean Farley.
Slated to open in theaters on April 25th, Neighborhood Watch looks to be a quirky, darkly comedic caper that mixes suspense with offbeat humor, where Jack Quaid is once again the good dude trying to help in any way he can. Watch the trailer, above.
