Jack Quaid Stars as a Pain-Free Lovesick Hero in Trailer for New Action-Comedy "Novocaine" with Amber Midthunder
In Amazon's ultraviolent superhero satire series "The Boys," Jack Quaid plays one of the few characters who isn't imbued with superpowers. But in his latest film role, Quaid plays a man who is a superhero... well, sort of. He certainly has a super-sized heart as he tries to rescue the woman of his dreams in the trailer for "Novocaine."
In this new action comedy, Quaid stars as Nathan Caine, a mild-mannered bank office manager. He's living his life like a normal guy with no problems on the horizon. But everything is turned upside down when he falls in love with the woman of his dreams, a beautiful bank clerk played by Amber Midthunder, star of Hulu's hit "Predator" installment "Prey."
You see, Nathan finds himself in a serious predicament when his bank is robbed by an armed gang of masked thieves dressed in Santa Claus suits. When the thieves take Nathan's new girlfriend hostage and flee in a getaway, he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. But here's the twist: Nathan, much like a superhero, has a rare disorder that makes him feel no pain. Zero... Zilch... Nada! While he's no Wolverine -- he can certainly die from his injuries, Nathan can definitely take a beating like no one else. And it seems that for the price of love, Nathan is willing to do anything to get his girl back. Even if it means Nathan's body will have to act as a pinata as he endure a series of brutal beatings from a couple of tough bad guys. Love hurts, sometimes.
Co-starring Ray Nicholson, Jacob Batalon, Betty Gabriel, and Matt Walsh, "Novocaine" is directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, the same filmmaking duo behind the darkly comic horror thriller "Villains" and the cult vampire sequel "The Stakelander." The film is written by Lars Jacobson.
"Novocaine" is scheduled to open in theaters on March 14, 2025. Watch the trailer, above.
