"Gangs of London: Season 3" Trailer: Crime Wars Escalate as the Wallace Family Faces New Threats, Starring Sope Dirisu, Michelle Fairley, and Joe Cole
Gareth Evans’ action-packed crime series returns with more brutal fights, power struggles, and shifting alliances in the streets of London.
Filmmaker Gareth Evans made a name for himself in the action-crime subgenre with his highly successful The Raid films, which introduced the world to Indonesian martial artist Iko Uwais. Evans brought a hyper-kinetic visual style reminiscent of the great Hong Kong action films of the 1980s and 1990s, but he added his own level of intensity and extreme gore. People weren’t just getting punched in the face or kicked in the legs; their bloody teeth were knocked out of their mouths, and their broken bones split through their skin, piercing their clothes. So, yes, it was cool as hell!
Director Gareth Evans later brought his brand of ultra-violent action to the small screen with the British crime series Gangs of London. The show, which debuted in 2020, is a wild blend of the classic British gangster genre and the fast-paced, bone-crunching fight choreography Evans is famous for. That said, the series does lean into some familiar tropes: a morally driven undercover cop infiltrates a powerful and ruthless crime family, while London descends into chaos as a brutal gang war pushes every criminal faction to the edge of collapse.
While the story behind Gangs of London might feel familiar, predictable, and even derivative at times, the action in the series is second to none. With adrenaline-pumping choreography and jaw-dropping sequences, these scenes will surely leave viewers on the edge of their seats while also wincing at the sheer brutality and graphic violence on screen. After all, it is a Gareth Evans production. Expect no less from him.
Starring Sope Dirisu as Elliot Carter, aka Finch, an undercover cop who has infiltrated the powerful Wallace crime family, only to watch the empire implode as a power struggle within the family spills onto the streets of London, Gangs of London is set to return for its third season in March.
"London is at the feet of the criminal gangs," the Mayor of London (played by T'Nia Miller) announces in the official Gangs of London Season 3 trailer (watch it above). She continues, "Well, no more. Your days of terrorizing this city are numbered."
So, it seems there's a new mayoral initiative aiming to increase police presence on the streets, likely shaking things up as the criminal element will be pushed to find new ways to conduct business. Meanwhile, Marian Wallace, the new head of the Wallace family (played by Game of Thrones actress Michelle Fairley), will be forced to confront whether mending her broken family is the right path forward. If so, it means Sean Wallace (played by Peaky Blinders actor Joe Cole), the heir apparent and a dangerous psychopath, will have the chance to prove what he can truly do for the family—if he ever gets released from prison, that is.
Co-starring Lucian Msamati, Brian Vernel, Orli Shuka, and Narges Rashidi, among others, Gangs of London: Season 3 will debut in the U.K. on Sky TV and NOW in March.
As of yet, there's no official U.S. premiere date. But for U.S. viewers, you can watch the first two seasons right now on Netflix and AMC+.
