"G20" Final Trailer: Viola Davis Stars as a Tough, No-Nonsense American President in This High-Stakes Action Thriller with Antony Starr
In this pulse-pounding action film, Davis plays a military veteran turned U.S. President who must fight terrorists and protect her family during the G20 summit in Cape Town.
In Air Force One, Harrison Ford played a U.S. President who singlehandedly took on a Russian terrorist ringleader and yelled, “Get off my plane!” In White House Down, Jamie Foxx portrayed an Obama-like President whose residence was invaded by heavily armed mercenaries. In Independence Day, Bill Pullman played a President who delivered a moving speech before leading an all-out air assault against space aliens. Now, it’s Viola Davis’s turn to add something new to the President-in-Peril subgenre.
In the upcoming action film G20, the Oscar winner stars as U.S. President Taylor Sutton, the leader of the free world who discovers that sometimes freedom comes at a cost—maybe the life of a loved one or two. As political tensions rise and world leaders converge for the annual G20 summit—this time in Cape Town, South Africa—President Sutton finds herself at the center of a chilling international crisis when armed terrorists suddenly attack the summit, led by a ruthless psycho (played by Antony Starr, aka Homelander from The Boys). As the situation spirals out of control, President Sutton must make impossible choices to protect her people and the future of the world. But when her husband (Black-ish star Anthony Anderson) is taken hostage and her tech-savvy teenage daughter (Marsai Martin, also from Black-ish) is unaccounted for, President Sutton must tap into her skills as a former military combat veteran to save the day.
Well, it might not be Fallujah, but Hallelujah, Sutton is an American president who doesn’t back down from a fight. And she’s going to stop at nothing to protect her family, her country, and everything she holds dear—whether it’s taking on terrorists or outsmarting a sadistic mastermind with brawn and grit.
So, get ready to see Viola Davis go from The Woman King to The Woman President, this time, kicking ass in a red cocktail dress. We bet the founding fathers never saw that coming.
Co-starring Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Clark Gregg, and directed by Patricia Riggen (The 33), G20 is making its debut this week, starting Thursday, April 10, on Prime Video.
