"Fountain of Youth" New Trailer: Natalie Portman and John Krasinski Race to Unlock an Ancient Secret in Guy Ritchie’s High-Octane Apple Original Film with Eiza González and Domhnall Gleeson
Portman stars as an art historian thrust into a globe-trotting adventure with her art thief brother (Krasinski) to find the elusive Fountain of Youth.
You know the old adage, The greater the risk, the greater the reward. So just imagine the reward of finding the location of the mythical Fountain of Youth—the risk? Astronomical. So, is it a gamble worth taking? Well, you know what they also say, fortune favors the bold!
Natalie Portman will be forced to ponder this question of go big or go home when she discovers that the Fountain of Youth might not only be real, but within reach in this new action-adventure thriller from director Guy Ritchie.
That’s right, Portman is in a Guy Ritchie movie. But this is less the gravelly voiced East London gangster films and more in the vein of Ritchie’s high-octane action flicks like Sherlock Holmes and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Although it would be pretty awesome to see Portman testing out her Cockney accent and saying lines like, "Oi! If that wanker don’t cough up my money, he’s gettin’ properly done up." Fingers crossed for that to happen in the near future.
Rather, Portman stars opposite John Krasinski, playing sister and brother Charlotte and Luke Purdue. Charlotte is a respectable art historian, while Luke is running around the world, evading authorities as an international art thief. After years apart, Charlotte and Luke reunite under some intense circumstances. It seems some very powerful people are looking for Luke, as he might have discovered the location of the fabled Fountain of Youth. It was a passion once shared by Charlotte and Luke’s father, and Luke is determined to finish what he started. The question is, does Charlotte want to join him in this dangerous pursuit, or will she walk away from the legacy her father left behind? Aaah, oh c’mon! You know, she’s in! There wouldn’t be a movie if she said no.
So, how will Luke procure this Fountain of Youth, exactly? Well, Luke has gathered up a small team of experts and researchers, including a financial backer (Domhnall Gleeson), and now he needs Charlotte to complete the circle. There is a slight problem. It seems the Fountain of Youth has been kept secret for centuries on purpose. There’s a secret society built around it, and their goal is to keep it hidden from the world by any means necessary. Among the members of this society are Eiza González and Stanley Tucci, who are actively in hot pursuit, attempting to derail Luke and his team.
Fountain of Youth is an Apple original feature film that will be premiering next month. But however you feel about streaming films, this looks actually quite entertaining—a light-hearted throwback to early 2000s action-adventure films like National Treasure and The Da Vinci Code, with a smidge of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, White House Down) and directed and produced by Guy Ritchie, the film also co-stars Carmen Ejogo, Benjamin Chivers, Laz Alonso, Arian Moayed, and Daniel de Bourg.
So, prepare to pack your bags and embark on a globe-trotting adventure to discover if the Fountain of Youth is worth your time, streaming on May 23rd exclusively on Apple TV+. Watch the new trailer, above.
