"Drop" Trailer: A Woman’s Date Night Spirals Into Pure Terror in New Blumhouse Thriller, Starring Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar
White Lotus's Meghann Fahy Stars in a Tense Date-Night Thriller With a Deadly Twist, Co-starring Brandon Sklenar
Imagine the worst date you've ever been on. Now triple it. And you still won't come close to what happens in the date at the center of this new horror thriller, Drop.
From Christopher Landon, the director of horror hits like Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U, and Freaky, this new date night-gone-wrong thriller stars Meghann Fahy, the Emmy-nominated actress from Season 2 of HBO's The White Lotus. She also recently co-starred in the hit Netflix miniseries The Perfect Couple.
In the film, Fahy plays Violet, a single mother who has finally mustered enough courage to set up a date night with a guy she met online. She has someone looking after her child for the night, so everything is going smoothly so far. The guy shows up at the restaurant they’ve chosen, they exchange pleasantries—so far, so good.
But then it happens... beeeep!
Violet's phone goes off. It's an ominous message from an anonymous stranger. It's an untraceable "drop" coming somewhere from inside the restaurant or nearby. The message reads, "check your home security cameras." And lo and behold! Violet checks her phone app and sees on the video a masked armed man inside her home where her son is sleeping. Another phone message comes through and it reads, "if you tell your date, your son dies."
Soon Violet is thrust into a chaotic night of emotions and fear as she is forbidden to tell anyone in the restaurant her terrifying predicament. So, the game begins. How can Violet make it through her date night without putting her child in grave jeopardy? And what will she order for dessert — this is, if she makes it that far into the date, am I right?
Written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach (writing team behind the Blumhouse thrillers Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island) and produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and Jason Blum's Blumhouse Studios, the thriller also stars Brandon Sklenar (It Ends with Us, 1923) as Henry, the guy Violet's on a date with.
Violett Beane (CW's The Flash, Hulu's Death and Other Details) co-stars as Violet's younger sister, who is babysitting her kid. Jeffery Self, Ed Weeks, and Reed Diamond round out the cast.
Drop is coming to theaters on April 11th.
