"Death of a Unicorn" New Trailer: Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega Discover a Mythical Creature—Then All Hell Breaks Loose!
When a billionaire (Richard E. Grant) discovers unicorn horns can cure diseases, greed takes over—until an enraged Mama Unicorn shows up for revenge. Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, and Will Poulter star.
Okay, the common sentiment is that Hollywood has become too fixated on remaking and rehashing old properties, leaving originality behind. While most would agree that films feel more derivative than ever, we’ve got to say—even the harshest critic might admit that this movie is taking things to places we haven’t seen in recent years.
Magical freakin’ unicorns!
But these aren’t just your typical mystical, rainbow-hopping creatures—they don’t just have the power to heal, they also have the power to destroy. Now that’s what we call entertainment!
So, here you go! Check out the latest trailer for the upcoming darkly comic fantasy horror thriller Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Richard E. Grant, Will Poulter, and Tea Leoni.
In this upcoming A24 film, Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega star as a father and daughter on a trip to a remote nature preserve, where they’re set to meet the father’s billionaire boss (Richard E. Grant) and his entitled wife (Tea Leoni) and their deeply spoiled son (Will Poulter). But on their way there, the father and daughter accidentally hit something with their car—a unicorn. That’s right, a unicorn!
After their initial shock at discovering that unicorns not only exist in this world but can also end up as roadkill, the duo decides to get the billionaire boss involved—because, surely, a man of his resources would know exactly what to do. Right? Well… maybe not.
It seems that after discovering the unicorn’s horn—when shaved properly—possesses magical properties capable of curing some of the most devastating diseases, the billionaire nearly collapses at the thought of just how much money he could make off this miraculous medical breakthrough. Forget ethical concerns—this could be the most lucrative pharmaceutical venture the world has ever seen.
But there’s a slight problem with this golden goose that no one thought to consider—if this dead unicorn ended up here, lying inside the billionaire’s estate, surely it wasn’t alone when it got hit by the car. Surely, someone (or something) is out there looking for it.
And wouldn’t you know it? There is!
Enter the Mama Unicorn—and she is pissed. Forget fairy-tale magic—this is a full-blown mythical bloodbath waiting to happen. And she’s not here to sprinkle healing dust—she’s here for revenge. And revenge is what she will get.
Co-starring Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Steve Park, and Jessica Hynes, Death of a Unicorn is written, directed, and produced by Alex Scharfman, marking his feature debut as a writer-director.
Scharfman, however, has been working as an indie film producer for years, with producing credits including Blow the Man Down (2019), Resurrection (2022), and House of Spoils (2024).
Death of a Unicorn will be galloping its way into theaters on March 28th. Don't forget to buckle up for a wild ride, and always check your mirrors for oncoming chaos!
