Daisy Ridley Battles Terrorists in a London High-Rise in Martin Campbell's New Action Thriller "Cleaner" with Clive Owen. Watch the Red Band Trailer!
Okay, picture "Die Hard." But instead of a hard-boiled cop stuck atop a tower building in the middle of a terrorist takeover, it's Rey from the "Star Wars" films. Well, that image should give you a bit of an idea of this new action thriller "Cleaner," starring Daisy Ridley, who taps into her inner John McClane to play an unconventional action hero stuck in a dicey situation beyond her control. Check out the official trailer for this upcoming action movie that evokes the intense spirit of "Die Hard," but packs it with a bunch of British accents.
Clive Owen also stars as the Hans Gruber of this film, a clever ringleader of an extremist group who has just taken control of the annual gala at a London high-rise tower, hosted by a wealthy energy company. Unbeknownst to them, however, 50 stories above, a humble window cleaner (played by "Star Wars" star Daisy Ridley) inadvertently becomes a witness to the hostage situation. She's also the only thing standing in the way of the extremists getting what they want. And from the looks of it, they want nothing but to inflict pain and fear... and possibly death to some of the rich guests. Luckily for Ridley's character, she has some military training as an ex-army soldier. The question is, did the army ever teach her how to stop terrorists from blowing up a building into smithereens? Well, here goes nothing!
Co-starring Taz Skylar (from Netflix's "One Piece"), this upcoming action thriller is the latest from Martin Campbell, the veteran director known for his work on James Bond blockbusters like "Casino Royale" (2006) and "GoldenEye" (1995). He's also famous for directing the successful "Zorro" films, "The Mask of Zorro" (1998) and "The Legend of Zorro" (2005), featuring Antonio Banderas in the title character. In recent years, Campbell has been mainly focusing on low-to-mid-budget action thrillers, with varying degrees of success, including 2017's "The Foreigner" with Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, and 2021's "The Protege" with Maggie Q and Michael Keaton. This year, Campbell directed the all-female military thriller "Dirty Angels," starring Eva Green, Ruby Rose, and Maria Bakalova.
"Cleaner" is slated to hit theaters on February 21, 2025. Watch the trailer, above.
