Christmas Drops: Rachel Zegler Sings in Special Look Clip From Disney's Snow White and Watch a Scary Scene From The Monkey
Dinsey’s Snow White - Special Look Clip
(on March 21st in theaters)
Disney has released a sneak peek clip for the live-action remake of Snow White, offering a first look at Rachel Zegler's singing talents. Known for her role in West Side Story and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (she was also recently in Kyle Mooney’s horror-comedy Y2K), Zegler takes on the iconic role of Snow White. The clip showcases her powerful vocals, giving fans a glimpse of her performance of “Waiting on a Wish” in this new adaptation.
One can assume that Disney is feeling more and more confident about releasing sneak peeks at actual song performances now that Wicked has become a recent box office smash. It’s clear that both movies will be attracting the same type of audiences.
Snow White is directed by Mark Webb, known for helming The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, as well as the hit music-infused romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer. In this reimagining of the classic fairy tale, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is playing the Evil Queen.
Since the initial announcement and the release of the first original set photos, the movie has sparked some controversy, particularly over its depiction of the seven dwarves, who will now be portrayed by hyper-realistic CGI characters instead of live actors of various sizes. Both methods didn’t sit right with anyone looking from the outside.
And there’s also Zegler. While Zegler’s voice is undeniably impressive, there is still some uncertainty over whether she can fully make the leap into a marketable star. However, this film could be the catalyst for the next stage in her career, as Snow White promises to be a major release in Disney's lineup when it hits theaters on March 21st.
The Monkey - Sneak Peek Clip
(on Feb 21 in theaters)
Nothing says Christmas morning like a couple of fish hooks to the face. But that's exactly what you'll get with this new first-look clip from the upcoming horror movie The Monkey.
The buzz on this film has been growing since the release of its tightly edited red band teaser, which did exactly what a trailer should do: keep the audience engaged and on their toes, while leaving them wanting more.
The Monkey is based on the short story by legendary horror guru Stephen King. But I suppose the biggest selling point is the director, Osgood Perkins, who is coming off one of the biggest horror films of 2024 with Longlegs. Perkins has teamed up with horror filmmaker James Wan, who serves as a producer on the film. Theo James stars as a man haunted by a toy monkey cursed with the demonic supernatural power of bringing death and destruction to anyone in its possession.
In this new clip, we see a woman in curlers going down to her basement, only to be met with a series of horrible events, including fish hooks suddenly lodged into her face and a very close encounter with an uncontrollable stove fire. Ouch!
The Monkey is out in theaters February 21st.
And just for fun, keeping with the horror theme, here’s something that horror master John Carpenter dropped online: a holiday message that only Carpenter can deliver!
