Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx Reunite as Ex-CIA Spies Protecting Their Family in Teaser for Netflix's New Action Comedy "Back in Action"
Ten years have passed since Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz starred together in the 2014 musical remake "Annie." Since then, Diaz has stepped away from the screen, focusing on her personal life. However, this January, she's set to make a major comeback in Netflix's action-comedy "Back in Action." In the film, Diaz and Foxx play a married couple with children who are forced to resume their past lives as retired undercover CIA spies after their true identities are exposed, drawing them back into the high-stakes world of espionage.
Netflix has released the first official teaser for the upcoming action-comedy, showcasing the undeniable chemistry between Foxx and Diaz as they portray Matt and Emily, two former U.S. spies trying to piece together a semblance of normalcy after their children uncover their past as the CIA's top operatives. Now, their sole mission is to protect their family from danger, as a series of skilled assassins target them after learning their true identities.
The Netflix original is directed and produced by Seth Gordon, known for "Horrible Bosses" and "Baywatch." Gordon also co-wrote the screenplay with "Neighbors" scribe Brendan O'Brien.
In addition to Foxx and Diaz, the cast includes Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, McKenna Roberts, and Rylan Jackson.
"Back in Action" is set to debut on January 17th on Netflix.
On a side note, during the production of this film, Jamie Foxx faced a medical crisis and was hospitalized for several months. However, it seems Foxx will finally reveal what happened to him in a new stand-up special, "Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...", set to debut on Netflix on December 10th.
