"Bring Her Back" Teaser: 'Talk to Me' Directors Return With Another A24 Supernatural Horror Thriller!

After their breakout hit Talk to Me, the Philippou Brothers are back with Bring Her Back, a terrifying new A24 horror film starring Sally Hawkins.

To be totally honest, the very thought of YouTube content creators trying to break into the movie business would have generated the biggest eye roll from most people. So when we first heard about the Philippou Brothers, we didn’t think much of them at first.

Sure, they had a massively popular YouTube channel (@Therackaracka), where they regularly posted staged prank videos and CGI-heavy comedic skits. They had millions of followers who thought they were hilarious. The Philippou Brothers themselves also had an overly energetic personality that could be borderline grating to some. But there was no denying that the brothers were talented and had a huge online presence. Still, as that Canadian cowgirl Shania Twain once said, "That Don’t Impress Me Much!"

So, going in to see Talk to Me, the Philippou brothers' feature film debut, for the first time, we carried a huge amount of bias and bad-faith sentiment. After all, how the hell could a couple of Aussie kids from YouTube, no less, make what everybody was calling the best horror movie of the year?

But holy crap—they did it. Much respect.

With their 2022 debut feature, the Philippou brothers proved they were much more than YouTube pranksters and content creators. They’re not only rising voices in the horror genre but also exceptionally talented young filmmakers who deserve to be on your radar. So, count us among the many converts who now can't wait to see what the brothers are doing next.

And lo and behold, the first teaser has arrived, offering a first look at their much-anticipated follow-up. It’s called Bring Her Back, and it looks like another high-tension supernatural thriller that will surely have everyone talking leading up to its summer release.

Once again backed by A24 Films, Bring Her Back stars English actress Sally Hawkins, of The Shape of Water fame.

Not much is known about the film other than this vague logline: "A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother."

It looks like Hawkins might be playing this foster mother, as she is seen in the one-minute teaser with a blood-covered hand, screaming in pure agony, "He's gonna bring her back!"

This seems to suggest a Pet Sematary-style scenario, where a loved one is resurrected through some kind of black magic ritual. Creepy stuff, if you ask us.

Joining Hawkins in the mayhem is Billy Barratt (Kraven the Hunter), along with newcomers Sora Wong and Jonah Wren Phillips.

Danny and Michael Philippou direct the upcoming horror film (their sophomore feature following the breakout hit Talk to Me), while Danny co-wrote the screenplay with Bill Hinzman (Talk to Me).

What about a sequel to Talk to Me? Well, with that movie being such a huge hit, a follow-up is inevitable. It’s tentatively titled Talk 2 Me and is still in development, but we can assume the brothers are already working on it for a potential release next year.
