"Black Mirror: Season 7" Trailer: Cristin Milioti Returns for a USS Callister Follow-Up!
Charlie Brooker’s hit dystopian anthology is back with a star-studded cast, mind-bending new episodes, and a long-awaited sequel to one of its most beloved installments.
At this point, British satirist Charlie Brooker, creator and writer of the wildly popular sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror, might just be the modern equivalent of Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling. Now, we’re not saying they share the exact same level of creative writing and productivity—though one could argue they’re certainly playing in the same ballpark.
But as a futurologist, Brooker has a knack for translating today’s issues and warning signs into eerie metaphors and unsettling sci-fi allegories. Perhaps not since the days of Serling have we seen someone so effectively tap into societal anxieties and fears—crafting cautionary tales about a future so dark and bleak, yet so uncomfortably plausible, that they force us to reflect on the world we live in today… and why we desperately need to change. That is certainly a quality that both Brooker and Serling share equally.
But there’s one key difference—Brooker is a clever satirist. His stories don’t just terrify us — they also mock the terrifying possibilities of where we might be headed. Many of Brooker-written Black Mirror episodes have a twinge of darkly comedic irony, forcing us to laugh at the absurdity of what may come. And the humor isn’t just there for a joke—it’s a razor-sharp critique of our increasingly media-obsessed, tech-shackled world.
It’s that unique blend of chillingly prophetic storytelling and biting satire that has attracted so many big-name talents to each new season of Black Mirror. And with Season 7 on the horizon, it looks like Brooker has once again assembled an all-star cast to dive into his latest batch of mind-bending dystopian nightmares.
Here’s just a taste of the star-studded lineup of actors set to make guest appearances in Black Mirror: Season 7:
Awkwafina
Peter Capaldi
Emma Corrin
Paul Giamatti
Rashida Jones
Billy Magnussen
Cristin Milioti
Chris O’Dowd
Issa Rae
Tracee Ellis Ross
Jimmi Simpson
Will Poulter
And many more.
Here’s an exciting piece of news straight from the newly released Black Mirror: Season 7 trailer—Cristin Milioti is back!
Fresh off her incredible turn in the first season of HBO's The Penguin, Milioti will be reprising her role as video game programmer Nanette Cole from the Emmy-winning Black Mirror episode USS Callister.
For those who need a refresher, USS Callister was one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed episodes of the series, a feature-length installment that put a sinister spin on a Star Trek-style space adventure. In it, a bitter and socially inept video game developer (played by Jesse Plemons) creates a virtual reality game where he assumes the role of an all-powerful spaceship captain aboard the USS Callister. The twist? His crew members aren’t just NPCs—they’re digital clones of his real-life coworkers, uploaded into the game against their will.
Milioti’s Nanette Cole quickly realizes the horrifying truth behind the simulation and leads a full-blown revolt against their tyrannical “captain”—a USS Callister mutiny. Many fans still regard the episode as one of Black Mirror’s finest—if not the best—episode ever.
The episode wasn’t just a hit with audiences —it earned numerous Emmy nominations, including one for Milioti’s standout performance, and even took home a couple of Emmy Awards for that episode alone. Now, with Milioti set to reprise her role in Season 7, it raises one huge question—what’s next for Nanette and the USS Callister crew? Whatever it is, we’re beyond ready to return to the stars (or cyberspace) for another mind-bending ride.
Black Mirror: Season 7 will feature six all-new standalone episodes, with two of them being feature-length installments. The series will be made available to stream starting April 10th, only on Netflix.
