Behind-the-Scenes Sneak Peek: Ke Huy Quan Stars as a Former Assassin Forced Back Into Action in the Upcoming Action-Comedy "Love Hurts"
If we're being honest for a moment, we really want Love Hurts to become a box office smash hit. Not because we love action films, though we do. And not because we think this film is going to be an action masterpiece, though we're not ruling that out. No, the real reason we want Love Hurts to do well is because it will show Hollywood that Ke Huy Quan is a damn star and deserves to be in more movies. The guy's a legend, and it should never have taken this long for him to land a lead role.
If Love Hurts becomes a box office hit in February, it will, undoubtedly, make Ke Huy Quan's comeback story even sweeter. And we can't think of a better person who deserves to have his unbelievable resurgence come full circle — from being a beloved child star, to a struggling adult actor, to someone forced to leave the business feeling unwanted and ignored, only to have one of the greatest Hollywood comebacks in history with his Oscar win for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Through all of this, Ke Huy Quan has never shown any signs of animosity, only gratitude for surviving in the business this long. At a time when half the public views actors as Hollywood elites and out-of-touch celebrities, Ke Huy Quan just might be the rare anomaly. He's inspirational.
Watch Ke Huy Quan as he tells his story in the most genuine and folksy way in this new sneak peek at his upcoming action-comedy Love Hurts. In the film, Quan stars as Marvin Gable, a seemingly ordinary real estate agent in the Milwaukee suburbs. What his co-workers don't know is that Marvin was once one of the world's most dangerous assassins. He left that life behind long ago, with no intention of returning to his criminal ways. However, his past comes back to haunt him when he discovers that his brother, a ruthless crime lord, has put a hit on him and found his hiding place. With no other choice, Marvin must tap into his killer instincts to protect the life he's built.
The film marks the directorial debut of stuntman and fight coordinator JoJo Eusebio, known for his work on action films like The Fall Guy, Violent Night, Deadpool 2, and the John Wick series.
Produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch under their 87North banner (The Fall Guy, Atomic Blonde, John Wick), Love Hurts is coming to theaters on February 7th, and if there's a just world, it becomes one of the biggest films of the year.
