Check out the trailer for "All We Had," an indie drama that marks the directorial debut of Katie Holmes, in which she also stars as a struggling single mother trying to raise a teenage daughter during a period of personal financial crisis and homelessness.

The film is based on the acclaimed 2014 book by author Annie Weatherwax and also stars Stefania LaVie Owen (Krampus) as Holmes' young spitfire daughter. The cast also includes Luke Wilson, Richard Kind, Mark Consuelos, Judy Greer, and Mr. Robot's Eve Lindley.

"All We Had" premiered to mostly positive reviews at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. It's currently slated for a December 9th release.

synopsis:
For fifteen-year-old Ruthie Carmichael (Stefania Owen) and her young mother, Rita (Katie Holmes), life has never been stable. Fleeing Rita's latest boyfriend, they find themselves living out of their beat-up car, and heading east in search of a better life. When money runs out and their car breaks down, they become stranded in a small town where Rita ultimately lands a steady job waitressing at Tiny's, a local diner where they begin to develop a family: tender-hearted Marty (Richard Kind), the owner of the diner, and Pam (Eve Lindley), a transgender waitress with big dreams who becomes Ruthie’s closest friend.
