Arrival — New Promo: 'Common Ground'

added: Fri, Oct 28th '16

A brand-new promo for the upcoming alien-contact drama "Arrival," starring Amy Adams as an expert linguist attempting to converse with extraterrestrials, asks "what would you do if you had to discover what you have in common with someone who speaks a different language?"

The two-minute promotional clip presents a social experiment that involves groups of people from different parts of the world, trying to communicate with each other with the assistance of a dry-erase board and simple hand gestures. The results range from playfully silly to emotionally uplifting. The clip effectively shows, in a clever way, the power of communication and expression.

Also starring Jeremy Renner and directed by "Sicario" helmer Denis Villeneuve, "Arrival" will be coming to theaters November 11.

When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team -- lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) -- is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers -- and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
