Check out the trailer for the new Netflix original series "3%," which is the streaming company's first ever Brazilian production shot in Portuguese.

The eight-episode drama takes place in a bleak future where the world has been divided into two camps: the Haves and the Have-Nots. In order to obtain a better quality of life, a young person must go through a difficult weeding-out process. The thing is, only three percent of the population make it through, leaving the rest to wither away in extreme poverty.

"3%" hails from Uruguay-born filmmaker Cesar Charlone, who is the award-winning cinematographer of the Brazilian crime thriller "City of God" and the Ralph Fiennes/Rachel Weisz-starring mystery thriller "The Constant Gardener."

The Netflix series stars Michel Gomes (City of Men), Bianca Comparato, Vaneza Oliveira, Viviane Porto, Rodolfo Valente and Joao Miguel, and will premiere globally on Friday, November 25.

synopsis:
A world divided into progress and devastation. The link between the two sides -- Offshore and Inland -- is a rigorous and painstaking system called The Process. Everyone in Inland has a chance to go through The Process to live a better life in Offshore. But only 3% make it through.
