Check out the trailer for "Growing Up Smith," a 1979-set coming-of-age comedy about a 10-year-old Indian boy, named Smith, who, after emigrating to the United States, falls in love with the young American girl next door.

Introducing Roni Akurati as the young love-bitten Smith and co-starring Brighton Sharbino (The Walking Dead) as Smith's childhood crush, Amy, the cast also includes Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl), Hilarie Burton (One Tree Hill), Poorna Jagannathan (The Night Of), and Shoba Narayanan (Halal in the Family).

India-born actor Anjul Nigam (Bad Words) not only plays the father in the film, but also co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Quinn and Gregory Scott Houghton.

"Growing Up Smith" is the feature directorial debut of indie film producer Frank Lotito. The movie is slated for a theatrical release on February 3, 2017.

synopsis:
When an Indian family moves to America in 1979 with the hope of living the American Dream, their 10-year-old-son, Smith, falls head-over-heels for the girl next door. With an American Dream of his own, Smith strives to become a "good ol' boy," propelling him and his family further away from their traditional ideals than ever before.

GROWING UP SMITH is a heartfelt coming-of-age comedy about an irrepressibly-like- able 10-year-old boy from India who may possibly lose it all -- including the love of his life -- when his obsession for living the American Dream unexpectedly takes a wrong turn.
