Amy Adams regrets her failed marriage with Jake Gyllenhaal in the new trailer for "Nocturnal Animals," the latest stylish thriller from fashion designer-turned-filmmaker Tom Ford, which also stars Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Based on the 1993 novel "Tony and Susan," which is the last book written by late, author Austin Wright, the film tells of a successful art gallery owner (Adams) who is forced to confront her sordid past when her forgotten ex-husband (Gyllenhaal) unexpectedly sends her the manuscript of his first novel. It's a thinly veiled tell-all, crime tale about a married man (also played by Gyllenhaal) who is trapped in a waking nightmare, involving a hard-boiled Texas detective (Shannon) and a redneck sociopath (Taylor-Johnson).

A hit on the festival circuit and already being tipped as an Oscar contender, "Nocturnal Animals" is Fords' second directorial effort (he also wrote the adapted screenplay), following his 2009 critically-hailed feature debut "A Single Man."

The film co-stars Laura Linney, Andrea Riseborough, Armie Hammer, and Michael Sheen, and it's due to open in select theaters on November 18, before expanding nationwide on December 9.
