Showtime has released an early behind-the-scenes peek at the much-anticipated revival of David Lynch's cult murder-mystery series "Twin Peaks."

While actual footage from the upcoming series is minimal, the clip does offer a look at the cast, namely Kyle MacLachlan who is reprising his role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper. Meanwhile, other returning cast members include Miguel Ferrer (as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield), Harry Goaz (as Deputy Andy Brennan), Kimmy Robertson (as Lucy Moran), Dana Ashbrook (as Bobby Briggs), and James Marshall (as James Hurley).

Jim Belushi, Robert Knepper, Amy Shiels, and Chrysta Bell have also been added to the revival series, which will be directed by Lynch and written by Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost.

"Twin Peaks" first aired on ABC in 1990 and ran for two seasons (30 episodes in all). And the series spawned a 1992 feature film, "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me."

The revival series was originally slated for a 2016 release, but after a contentious negotiation deal (Lynch, at one time, exited the project, but then was quickly brought back after the cast protested) the release date has now been set for 2017.
