A brand-new trailer has been released for "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage," the upcoming WWII-era drama starring Nicolas Cage as the captain of the legendary naval cruiser known for being torpedoed and sunk by a Japanese submarine, which resulted in "the worst naval disaster in American history."

July 30, 1945: the surviving naval officers of USS Indianapolis were forced to abandon ship after the surprise torpedo attack, only to drift at sea for five torturous days of dehydration and hypothermia. Worse yet, the waters were infested with sharks and many survivors were picked off during the duration. (Note: This historic event was famously mentioned in Steven Spielberg's classic 1975 thriller "Jaws.")

In addition to Cage, the film also stars Thomas Jane, Tom Sizemore, James Remar, and Cody Walker (Paul Walker's youngest brother).

Helmed by actor-turned-director Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City, TV's Empire), "USS Indianapolis" is debuting on VOD this Friday, October 14 (via Lionsgate) and will hit select theaters on November 11 (via Saban Films).

synopsis:
The harrowing true story of the crew of the USS Indianapolis, who were stranded in the Philippine Sea for five days after delivering the atomic weapons that would eventually end WWII. As they awaited rescue, they endured extreme thirst, hunger, and relentless shark attacks.
