Clive Owen is back behind the wheel of a BMW in a new 30-second trailer for "The Escape."

"The Knick" star, who was once considered as a James Bond contender, is finding himself in the middle of a new hair-raising situation as he reprises his role of "The Driver" in the forthcoming revival of the 2001 action web series from BMW Films.

"The Escape," which also stars Dakota Fanning, Vera Farmiga, and Jon Bernthal, is the new BMW-sponsored, 11-minute action film -- this time, written and directed by sci-fi visionary Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium, Chappie).

It seems Blomkamp has been a huge fan of the original short film series since the very beginning. While attending film school in the early 2000s, Blomkamp even tried to get hired to direct a segment -- even though, all eight BMW shorts were helmed by some of the top directors in the industry (the list included Tony Scott, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Wong Kar-wai, Guy Ritchie, Ang Lee, etc.).

So when offered to oversee the relaunch, Blomkamp jumped at the chance to create his own version. No word yet if more BMW Films are coming; or if BMW is talking with any directors other than Blomkamp.

Nevertheless, Blomkamp's "The Escape" is scheduled to make its internet debut later this month, Sunday, October 23, exclusively on www.bmwfilms.com.
