A decomposing Javier Bardem has a grim message for the elusive Captain Jack Sparrow in the very first trailer for Disney's highly-anticipated fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, "Dead Men Tell No Tales," which is heading to theaters next year.

Plot details for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced film have been kept closely guarded, and the newly-released teaser doesn't offer much in the way of storyline -- even, Johnny Depp is decidedly missing. But the footage does give viewers the first peek at the film's primary ghost villain, Captain Salazar (played by Oscar-winner Bardem). Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent, Gods of Egypt) also appears in the clip as a young, jailed sailor (possibly a new pirate character?).

Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, who together helmed the Oscar-nominated sea-adventure drama "Kon-Tiki," are directing the film from a screenplay by "Catch Me If You Can" scribe Jeff Nathanson.

The cast will also include Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner), Golshifteh Farahani (Paterson), Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire), and will feature returning cast members Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush. Meanwhile, Beatle legend Paul McCartney is rumored to have a cameo in the upcoming movie.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" will open everywhere on May 26, 2017.

synopsis:
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack's only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
