Following his Emmy-nominated turn in the critically acclaimed miniseries "The Night Manager," Hugh Laurie is once again stepping back into the world of television with Hulu's new suspense thriller "Chance."

Premiering later this month, Hulu has gone ahead and released the full-length trailer for the San Francisco-set series, in which Laurie stars as Eldon Chance, a forensic neuropsychiatrist who finds himself navigating the murky waters of morality when he becomes emotionally attached to one of his mentally ill patients (played by Boardwalk Empire's Gretchen Mol). Things become even more complicated when Chance learns of her abusive ex-husband, who happens to be a homicidal police detective.

Based on the novel of the same name by best-selling author Kem Nunn, the ten-episode thriller, which has already been greenlit for two seasons, also stars Ethan Suplee, LisaGay Hamilton, Paul Adelstein, Stefania LaVie Owen, and Clarke Peters.

Oscar-nominated director Lenny Abrahamson, of "Room" fame, is helming several episodes, including the pilot episode. He is also an executive producer on the series, which will start streaming Wednesday, October 19, on Hulu.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Kem Nunn, Chance is a provocative, psychological thriller that focuses on Eldon Chance (Hugh Laurie), a San Francisco-based forensic neuropsychiatrist who reluctantly gets sucked into a violent and dangerous world of mistaken identity, police corruption and mental illness. After an ill-advised decision regarding an alluring patient who may or may not be struggling with a multiple personality disorder, Chance finds himself in the crosshairs of her abusive spouse, who also happens to be a ruthless police detective. In over his head, Chance's descent into the city's wayward underbelly, all while navigating the waters of a contentious divorce and tribulations of his teenage daughter, soon spirals into an ever deepening exploration of one of mankind's final frontiers -- the shadowy, undiscovered country of the human mind.
