Warren Beatty hasn't starred in a movie in almost 15 years. And he hasn't directed since his 1998 political satire "Bulworth." But the 79-year-old actor/filmmaker is making his long-awaited comeback with the 1958-set romantic comedy "Rules Don't Apply," in which he co-stars as reclusive billionaire and movie mogul Howard Hughes.

The film is not a biopic, per se, but rather a fictional love story concerning two of Howard Hughes' employees: a newly-hired personal driver and a young, deeply-religious RKO actress.

"Hail, Caesar!" breakout star Alden Ehrenreich (who is also set to play a young Han Solo in the next "Star Wars" standalone movie) and Lily Collins (The Mortal Instruments) are playing the would-be couple, Frank Forbes and Marla Mabrey, who, while working for the eccentric tycoon, develop a strong romantic connection. Things, of course, get complicated when Hughes (Beatty) also forms a special friendship with the aspiring Hollywood starlet (Collins), much to the chagrin of a jealous Frank (Ehrenreich), who happens to already be engaged to another girl.

Also produced and written by Beatty and based on a story he co-wrote with Oscar-winning screenwriter Bo Goldman (Scent of a Woman), "Rules Don't Apply" features an impressive supporting cast that includes Matthew Broderick, Annette Bening, Haley Bennett, Alec Baldwin, Ed Harris, Martin Sheen, Candice Bergen, Megan Hilty, Taissa Farmiga, Oliver Platt, Dabney Coleman, and Steve Coogan.

The film, which marks Beatty's fifth directorial effort, will arrive in theaters November 23. In the meantime, you can check out a brand-new trailer, above.

synopsis:
An aspiring young actress (Lily Collins) and her ambitious young driver (Alden Ehrenreich) struggle hopefully with the absurd eccentricities of the wildly unpredictable billionaire (Warren Beatty), who they work for.

It's Hollywood, 1958. Small town beauty queen and devout Baptist virgin Marla Mabrey (Collins), under contract to the infamous Howard Hughes (Beatty), arrives in Los Angeles. At the airport, she meets her driver Frank Forbes (Ehrenreich), who is engaged to be married to his 7th grade sweetheart and is a deeply religious Methodist. Their instant attraction not only puts their religious convictions to the test, but also defies Hughes’ #1 rule: no employee is allowed to have any relationship whatsoever with a contract actress. Hughes' behavior intersects with Marla and Frank in very separate and unexpected ways, and as they are drawn deeper into his bizarre world, their values are challenged and their lives are changed.
