CW's new superhero series is now a Kryptonian family affair. Check out the latest extended trailer for "Supergirl: Season 2," starring Melissa Benoist as the titular superheroine, who protects National City against a wide range of threats, while also performing a regular job as an office assistant to media mogul Cat Grant (played by Calista Flockhart).

The new season, which has jumped from CBS to CW, adds a bit of testosterone in the form of former "Teen Wolf" star Tyler Hoechlin, who plays Superman, a.k.a. intrepid Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent. He, of course, is Supergirl's cousin, who was only mentioned in passing during the first season, but apparently has now come down to National City to lend a helping hand.

Also starring returning cast members Chyler Leigh and Jeremy Jordan, "Supergirl: Season 2" is set to premiere Monday, October 10 on the CW.

SUPERGIRL is based on the DC character Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, who after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul Cat Grant. However, Kara's days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency, enlists her to help protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats.
