A batch of newly released teaser clips from the upcoming live-action film adaptation of the classic futuristic manga series "Ghost in the Shell," are offering the very first glimpses of Scarlett Johansson as "Major," the special ops cyborg who leads an elite military unit charged with hunting down the world's most dangerous criminals.
The promotional teasers, which debuted during the season two finale of the hit hacker series "Mr. Robot," reveals very little about the plot, but does offer a taste of the film's visual style -- which is to say, it's very slick, moody, and intriguing.
Also starring legendary Japanese actor/filmmaker Takeshi Kitano (Battle Royale, Zatoichi), the upcoming sci-fi film is the second feature directed by former commercial helmer-turned-filmmaker Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman). While Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbaek, Chin Han, and Rila Fukushima are also among the cast.
"Ghost in the Shell" is slated to open on March 31, 2017.
