Back in 2001 and 2002 (a couple of years before the invention of YouTube), renowned car company BMW had launched a series of eight highly-crafted internet short films, which featured Clive Owen as an exceptionally gifted, unnamed BMW driver who drove through a number of death-defying scenarios.

The shorts were directed by some of the most versatile directors working in the business; the list included the late Tony Scott, Joe Carnahan, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Wong Kar-wai, Guy Ritchie and more.

Well, it seems after a long 15-year hiatus, BMW films is coming back next month with a new series of action-packed shorts. And Clive Owen is once again playing the mysterious "Driver."

Kicking off the relaunch is a new 11-minute short, titled "The Escape," which is directed by cult sci-fi director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium), who apparently was a huge fan of the original series during his stint in film school.

"The Escape," which is also starring Dakota Fanning, Jon Bernthal, and Vera Farmiga, will premiere online on October 23.

In the meantime, you can check out a 30-second behind-the-scenes sneak peek, above. For more information on BMW Films, head on over to the official website at www.bmwfilms.com.
