Amanda Knox, the American woman who served almost four years in an Italian prison for murdering her British roommate but was later cleared of the charges, is offering her side of the story in a new Netflix documentary.

Set to stream next week on September 30th, "Amanda Knox" chronicles the notorious murder case, which became one of the most publicized trials in recent history. Over the course of the 2007 murder trial, Knox was branded as some kind of lurid sex killer in the Italian and British tabloids. She was often referred to as "Foxy Knoxy."

Now 29, Knox is back home, living in Seattle, and working as a freelance writer. And though it's been five years since she has been freed from prison, many people still believe she is guilty … "a psychopath in sheep's clothing."

With a runtime of 92 minutes, "Amanda Knox" is directed by Emmy-nominated documentary producer Brian McGinn (Chef's Table) and indie filmmaker Rod Blackhurst (Here Alone). The documentary recently premiered to rave reviews at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. Watch a new full-length trailer, above.

synopsis:
Twice convicted and twice acquitted by Italian courts of the brutal killing of her British roommate Meredith Kercher, Amanda Knox became the subject of global speculation as non-stop media attention fed the public's fascination through every twist and turn of the nearly decade-long case.

In a world that remains strongly divided on the legal findings, Amanda Knox goes beyond guilt or innocence to shed new light on the events and circumstances of the past nine years. Featuring unprecedented access to the key people involved and never-before-seen archival material, the film shifts between past to present, exploring the case from the inside out in exclusive interviews with Amanda Knox, her former co-defendant and ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, Italian prosecutor Giuliano Mignini and Daily Mail reporter Nick Pisa.
