From the cult filmmaker behind the darkly comic indie movie "Buzzard" comes a new, equally strange and humorous character study of a deeply paranoid man who is slowly losing his grip on reality.

Check out the trailer for writer-director Joel Potrykus' "The Alchemist Cookbook," which received some good notices earlier this year at the South by Southwest Film Festival and Fantasia International.

The film stars Ty Hickson (star of the graffiti drama "Gimme the Loot") as a young loner who is so fed up with the world that he retreats to the woods of Michigan, where eventually he makes an attempt to summon Satan.

"The Alchemist Cookbook" will be released on October 7.

synopsis:
Young outcast Sean has isolated himself in a trailer in the woods, setting out on alchemic pursuits, with his cat Kaspar as his sole companion. Filled with disdain for authority, he’s fled the daily grind and holed up in the wilderness, escaping a society that has no place for him. But when he turns from chemistry to black magic to crack nature’s secret, things go awry and he awakens something far more sinister and dangerous. From the mind of acclaimed American filmmaker Joel Potrykus (BUZZARD, APE), THE ALCHEMIST COOKBOOK is an Official Selection of the 2016 South by Southwest Film Festival.
