Prolific British filmmaker Ben Wheatley (High-Rise, A Field in England) has teamed up with executive producer Martin Scorsese for an upcoming darkly comic, ultra-violent action thriller about a botched weapons deal that quickly devolves into a bullet-riddled fiasco.

Check out the newly-released red band trailer for Wheatley's "Free Fire," which is a '70s-era, offbeat shoot-'em-up that features a top-notch international cast that includes recent Oscar-winner Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Armie Hammer, District 9's Sharlto Copley, and Sing Street's Jack Reynor.

Set almost entirely inside an old abandoned warehouse, the 1978-set film centers on a group of international gunrunners who have agreed to sell guns to members of the I.R.A. But when the deal suddenly goes down in flames, everyone decides to shoot each other to save their own asses.

Michael Smiley, Sam Riley, Noah Taylor, Enzo Cilenti, Babou Ceesay and Patrick Bergin co-star.

"Free Fire," which just premiered at TIFF this week, will also screen in October at the London Film Festival. As of yet, the movie is slated for a 2017 release.

Bold, breathless and wickedly fun, Free Fire is an electrifying comedy-thriller about an arms deal that goes spectacularly and explosively wrong. Acclaimed filmmaker Ben Wheatley (Kill List, High Rise) propels the audience head-on into quite possibly the most epic shootout ever seen on film as he crafts a spectacular parody -- and biting critique -- of the insanity of gun violence. Everyone’s got a gun, and absolutely no one is in control.

Set in a colorful yet gritty 1970s Boston, Free Fire opens with Justine (Oscar-winner Brie Larson), a mysterious American businesswoman, and her wise-cracking associate Ord (Armie Hammer) arranging a black-market weapons deal in a deserted warehouse between IRA arms buyer Chris (Cillian Murphy) and shifty South African gun runner Vernon (Sharlto Copley). What starts as a polite if uneasy exchange soon goes south when tensions escalate and shots are fired, quickly leading to a full-on Battle Royale where it's every man (and woman) for themselves.
