Check out the newly-released U.S. trailer for the upcoming science-fiction superhero movie "Max Steel," which is based on Mattel's popular action figure toy line and animated series.

Ben Winchell (MTV's Finding Carter) stars as Max McGrath, a high-school teen who discovers his famous scientist father, who mysteriously died years ago, had gifted him with extraordinary powers to absorb and generate a special form of energy. Max now finds himself being paired up with his father's former associate, an alien robot named Steel (voiced by Silicon Valley's Josh Brener). Together as "Max Steel," they can conjoin their super abilities into a single techno-organic unit, forming into a powerful superhero that can protect Earth from hostile aliens.

Andy Garcia, Maria Bello, Mike Doyle, and Ana Villafane co-star.

Directed by commercial and web series director Stewart Hendler (Halo 4: Forward unto Dawn) and written by Marvel animation writer Christopher Yost (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes), "Max Steel" is due to hit U.S. theaters on October 14, via Open Road Films.

synopsis:
16-year old MAX MCGRATH has just moved to a new town - and is desperately trying to fit in -- when he discovers his body can generate the universe's most powerful energy. Unbeknown to Max, a slightly rebellious and hilarious techno-organic extraterrestrial named Steel has been keeping an eye on him, hungry for his super-human energy. When they finally meet, they discover that together they form MAX STEEL, a superhero possessing powerful strength beyond anything in our world. These two unlikely friends soon find themselves hunted by sinister forces who want to control Max's powers, as well as an unstoppable enemy from another galaxy.
