Thomas Haden Church is a homeless man who gets paid to fight other homeless men in the trailer for "Cardboard Boxer," which also stars Empire's Terrence Howard and Boyd Holbrook, from Netflix's "Narcos."

The upcoming gritty drama sees Church as a disheveled derelict who wanders through the back alleys of Los Angeles. While living off the money he earns from bum-fighting, he finds a child's discarded diary in a dumpster. After reading the journal, he immediately becomes motivated to turn his life around. He also wants to write a heartfelt letter of gratitude to the diary's owner.

"Cardboard Boxer" is the directorial debut of Knate Lee, a former camera operator and segment producer on "Jackass: The Series" and "Jackass: The Movie." Lee also wrote the screenplay.

Co-starring Macy Gray and Rhys Wakefield, the film will be made available on VOD on Tuesday, September 13 and will also be released in theaters on Friday, September 16.
