FOX's Lethal Weapon — New Preview

The dynamic cop pairing of Riggs and Murtaugh are back! But they're not exactly the same detectives you remembered -- though Riggs is still a loose cannon and Murtaugh is still too old for this sh-t.

Check out a new preview for the upcoming small-screen reboot of the hit action movie franchise "Lethal Weapon," in which comedian Damon Wayans (In Living Color) and newcomer Clayne Crawford (Rectify) are stepping into the iconic roles that were famously played by Danny Glover and Mel Gibson.

In this television remake from executive producer Matthew Miller (Chuck, Forever) and action-comedy director McG, Wayans plays Roger Murtaugh, a 50-year-old veteran detective who is also a devoted family man. On the first day back on the job after surviving a nearly fatal heart attack, Murtaugh learns he's been assigned to a new partner: Martin Riggs (Crawford), an ex-Navy SEAL and former undercover cop who, since the tragic death of his pregnant wife, appears to harbor a serious death wish.

The new FOX series, which also stars Jordana Brewster (Fast and Furious) and Keesha Sharp (The People v. O.J. Simpson), will involve entirely around Riggs and Murtaugh's Odd Couple-like partnership as they try to stay alive long enough to rid the streets of bad guys.

McG directs the pilot episode, which is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 21.

Grief-stricken after the loss of his young wife and unborn child, ex-Navy SEAL-turned-detective MARTIN RIGGS (Clayne Crawford) moves to California to "start over" at the LAPD. He's paired up with ROGER MURTAUGH (Damon Wayans), who's just coming back to the job after a near-fatal heart attack. Riggs' penchant for diving headfirst into the line of fire immediately clashes with Murtaugh's prudent, by-the-book technique. It's clear from the moment they meet, this partnership could be lethal. But during their first case together, Riggs drags Murtaugh on a high-speed chase culminating inside the Long Beach Grand Prix and into a seaport shootout with drug dealers -- and despite his protests, the older cop feels more alive than he has in years.

Meanwhile, Riggs gets a glimpse of why Murtaugh is so determined to get home safely at the end of each day -- he's got a family and a newborn baby of his own. By the time their investigation ends, Riggs realizes he may have found something worth living for -- a partner and friend like Murtaugh. And even Murtaugh figures this arrangement might just work out after all. If only Riggs doesn't get them killed first...
