Kate Winslet has a certain flair for fashion in the new U.S. trailer for the light-hearted drama "The Dressmaker," which is based on the best-selling 2000 novel of the same name by Australian author Rosalie Ham.

Kate Winslet plays Tilly Dunnage, a 1950s fashionista who, after many years working in London, Milan, and Paris, returns to her rural hometown in Australia. While attempting to patch-up her turbulent relationship with her eccentric mother (played by two-time Oscar-nominated Judy Davis), Tilly tries to combat the cruel rumors of her past by providing the locals with an entirely new wardrobe, including a hunky farmer ("Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth) and a bespectacled wallflower ("Steve Jobs" actress Sarah Snook).

Jocelyn Moorhouse (How to Make an American Quilt) directs from an adapted screenplay that she co-wrote with fellow Aussie filmmaker P.J. Hogan (Muriel's Wedding).

Co-starring Hugo Weaving and Caroline Goodall, "The Dressmaker" is set to open in U.S. theaters on September 23.

synopsis:
Based on the best-selling novel by Rosalie Ham, THE DRESSMAKER is a bittersweet, comedy-drama set in early 1950s Australia. Tilly Dunnage (KATE WINSLET), a beautiful and talented misfit, after many years working as a dressmaker in exclusive Parisian fashion houses, returns home to the tiny middle-of-nowhere town of Dungatar to right the wrongs of the past. Not only does she reconcile with her ailing, eccentric mother Molly (JUDY DAVIS) and unexpectedly falls in love with the pure-hearted Teddy (LIAM HEMSWORTH), but armed with her sewing machine and incredible sense of style, she transforms the women of the town and in doing so gets sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.
