The dreadful combination of social media harassment and sexual assault can have tragic results.

"Audrie & Daisy" is an emotionally stirring documentary from Netflix that examines two such tragic cases: 15-year-old Audrie and 14-year-old Daisy come from two different small American towns, but share a similar heartbreaking story.

On two separate nights, during two unrelated incidents, the teen girls became the victims of a sexual attack. In both events, the girls were assaulted by the boys from their high school, who filmed the encounter on their phones and shared the criminating videos through social media. Both cases also gained national attention, and both girls had to endure months and months of cyberbullying and online humiliation, which led to two devastating, but different outcomes.

Directed by acclaimed documentary filmmakers, and wife-and-husband team, Bonni Cohen (The Rape of Europa) and Jon Shenk (Lost Boys of Sudan), "Audrie & Daisy" premiered to strong reviews at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

The documentary will start streaming on Netflix beginning Friday, September 23. Watch the newly-released trailer, above.
